when is it my turn to be happy. /REF
Hello, I am auditioning for a college-level production of the play Dancing at Lughnasa. I would love for one of the female roles, but preferably Chris. I need a monologue under 2 minutes that fits the vibe of the show (I hear it has similar vibes to Little Women) and can be used with an Irish dialect.
Ahh. Fun! Interesting choice for a college (in a good way). I love that it has a lot of women's roles. It feels like we so often are an afterthought when departments are choosing seasons (unless you go to a women's college like I did for undergrad, but then that's a different circumstance).
Looking at the syntax of Dancing at Lughnasa, it seems to emulate the period in which it's set, so I'd recommend looking at some Sean O'Casey plays. You could try Nora's monologue from The Plough and the Stars (heads up, O'Casey's work phonetically transcribes the Dublin accent, so it may be an interesting read the first time through).
She from Enigma may also work for you. Sasha's monologue calling out Ivanov may also be a good choice. Or you could try one of Anna's monologues from Anna Christie.
Break a leg!
[person who is stable and normal and definitely not struggling with self-hatred and isnt desperate for external validation or absolution]: idk guys i think its normal to feel like this. i think its fine. if i feel bad then its just a personal failing

got complimented on my shirt (blue, humpback whales on it) at my ecophysiology class by a classmate who spoke of their admiration for people who wear shirts fitting the general subjects of their classes and i felt SO smug. because i 100% have a selection of animal and nature-themed shirts i wear to my ecology classes and i felt SOOO vindicated to have someone notice how cool and fitting that is to do. like yeah thats right im wearing shirts with animals while we're learning about nature and shit. you bet your ass i am
