#monofin

This is the SEAQUANTUM monofin from Amazon, currently sold for $169

It’s made entirely of silicone, and with proper care it will last you FOREVER!

I bought myself one a few years ago for $200 (so be thankful for the price drop folks) and I LOVE IT. Have been using it for free diving in lakes and reservoirs

The propulsion is 10/10, the feel of it is 10/10, and I’ve definitely got my money’s worth for this beauty (I have the purple one btw) Anyways, this is probably one of the best monofins money can buy

Just make sure you wear some socks with this monofin when you swim so you don’t get a blister - standard for many monofins or flippers

Ahoj friends! I have finally made version two of the footmould!

This version has a lower bridge, a full heel, and comes up higher on the foot.

It is overall a significant improvement! The piece is much more firmly fixed to the foot. It does put a lot of pressure on the bridge of my foot, but that foot has a particularly high bridge that many shoes struggle to fit it so why I made the choice to do the right foot instead of the left is beyond me. I think for most people it should be acceptable.

There are a few other things to address which are mostly small edits. I think I want to make the length just a bit shorter as the heel stretches and further compact space at the tip of the toes as there is a bit too much wiggle. I also want to edit the position of the drain hole because it is a bit uncomfortable and fillet the edges on the inside of the drain hole. I might also make it a little smaller. There are also a few spots where the material is thinner than I would like and I want to try to keep each wall at least 6mm. This is also noticable in the toe and I am worried how the part will bend and deform when swimming.

I also need to make an edit to the mould for the foot itself. It was not properly constrained and so it means there is a very uncomfortable ridge of silicone all the way around and it was still quite difficult to remove. I think I am going to make it a three part mould with a dove tail in the center to hold the other two pieces well aligned and the center piece being wedge shaped (excluding the dovetail) to make it easier to remove and making it easier to remove the two other parts as well. I may want to make a device to help disassemble the mould easier as well.

Overall though this version of the footpocket I am very happy with and think I can move on to the next stage which is to put it into the fin itself!
