Pauline Hanson talks a lot about a "monoculture".
She has a clear idea exactly which cultural "stuff" would be included and which stuff would be excluded... and she says it about us all receiving equal treatment. But...
"Monoculture" is not about equal treatment... it's about cookie cutter people, erasing individuality, and total slavish compliance. In short, robots. It's faceless helmets and uniforms, and letting those who don't belong... just starve to death.
When I was five years old, we moved from a suburb of Fremantle to the country town of Dongara/Port Denison, south of Geraldton. It was a different culture, with different rules, and it was fine.
When I was eight years old, we moved to the town of Brunswick Junction, two hours or so south of Perth. A different set of cultural rules again... but it was fine.
I have no idea how Pauline even intends to get rid of this difference and variation.
Monoculture Is Fragile Landraces Fight Back: Modern agriculture depends on monocultures - vast fields of identical crops built for efficiency, but dangerously vulnerable to climate change, drought, floods, pests, and disease.
Some days I miss monoculture
Other days I wonder just how it would have handled today's dominant properties and figures
I find it hard to even imagine how regulated monoculture that assumed the consumer is a moderately-educated adult would have handled say 47's war with Iran, the Manosphere, the labubu craze or child-centered memes like Baby Shark

I've seen more than one person lamenting the loss of the monoculture and I concerned
I actually miss monoculture lmao. I hate that pop culture is decaying. I don’t like these one million pocket universes swollen with fleeting, sloppy, fast fashion, fast food types of entertainment/interests where nothing feels purposeful or sustaining. Like brat summer and barbenheimer are the only fun popular moments I can recall in recent years. I could just be totally spacing out tho lol. I don’t like that subcultures barely mean anything anymore either. Everything is too available. I’m not big on gatekeeping or anything but fuck, stuff used to have meaning outside of just being a trendy label. Nothing takes any work and the satisfaction of discovery is gone. We’re all content with being drip-fed from algorithms. Including me tbh, I’ve probably forgotten how to seek things out too. Thx for coming to my Ted Talk 😭 this is so messily put together omg
