Recently rewatched Once More, With Feeling for the hundredth-something time, and this happens to be the first time I've watched it with captions, and for twenty-four years, I've thought the dialogue between Sweet and Buffy about Buffy taking Dawn's place went:
Sweet: What if I kill you?
Buffy: Trust me, won't help.
Sweet: That's cool with me.
As in, I thought for almost a quarter of a century I thought that was Sweet accepting Buffy's deal, but he was actually saying "That's gloomy" (which in retrospect, makes Buffy's next line of "That's life" make more sense), and that recontectualizes a scene I have seen many times over the majority of my life! I am agog! I am aghast!
Actually, yes, it DOES make a lot more sense with the Wild West setting of the music video to see that the second line in âThe Gamblerâ is âOn a train bound for nowhereâ, rather than âbound for Norwayâ.
