I know people have already mentioned at length the misogyny of Arrowverse fans wrt Iris, Laurel and Felicity, but I wanted to give a quick shout out to Mona Wu from DC's Legends of Tomorrow (a show I'm sure most have never heard of but it's this really fun time travel show that starts getting really good around s2 and then just kept getting better until it was cancelled). Mona as a character was so unfairly hated by the DC fanboys who thought she was unfunny and annoying, to the point where the actress (who was only like 21 at the time) chose to dip and moved on to better things - which I don't blame her for, but I actually LOVED Mona, I thought she was hilarious and she was a genuine fan of things and the show itself was like, we appreciate that! we appreciate you! and so for the fandom to be like ew fangirl ew annoying, and for TVline to refer to her as the worst new character that year, was genuinely disheartening because Mona was so genuinely, fundamentally good, she saw the best in people and she stood up for what was right always and we were ROBBED of seeing her further develop /endrant
fortunately for you anon, i am one of the like five people who has seen legends! great show! incredibly weird! if anyone reading this has only seen the first season trust me you have not gotten the true legends experience. there's a season finale that (spoilers) culminates with all the members of the team magically transforming themselves into a shared entity in the form of a giant stuffed animal (this universe's previously established tickle me elmo parody) and then they defeat the season's bad guy in their shared consciousness giant plushie form. and the show only gets weirder from there!
anyway, agreed on all counts, people were so shitty about mona. mona wu propaganda!
Legends on Twitter
Reasons why I love legends of tomorrow (incomplete list):
- canon mpreg 💖
- “they’re the ultimate buds 🍃” 🎶
- beebo god of war
- the sheer amount of times they’ve been muppets
- LESBIAN CLONE MARRIAGE ❤️❤️❤️
- all of ray’s friendships
- all the absolutely batshit plotlines. bc what even (I’m looking at you nuclear football football game)
- casually mentioning that in 2042 The Rock is president
- the fuckinf. unicorn
- it’s like the opposite of an anti-drug campaign
- zari tomaz
- rebecca silver! how could I forget rebecca silver!!
Put a Legend behind the wheel and this is what you'll get.
Change my mind.

Mona Wu Fashion Tournament Winner!
What a cutie.
[Reading Shakespeare in book club]
Nora: So, why does Juliet kill herself?
Mona: Because without her Romeo she has no reason to live.
Nora: Oh. You can tell this play was written by a man.
Best directions/descriptions from the Swan Thong script
An earnest worshipper kneels in front of them. Charlie looks antsy. Atropos like she'd rather be killing.
It is like watching a ballet, but with more punching.
Nate grinning with a jar of pre-swirled peanut butter and jelly! Ava flosses (the dance, not the dental thread. Although, also fun...) Sara rolls through on a Skateboard. Mick holds up a beer.
Charlie: (punk as all get-out)
Reveal Mona with the Hell flintlock pistol. Her face is covered in gun powder, but she beams and blows off the top of the gun.
The Legends continue to discuss their hiatus plans, completely oblivious to the fact that Sara is gone. Alcohol is the enemy of attentiveness, kids.
And, of course:
Knowing what's coming, Zari smiles and lets Charlie bring her in for an incendiary kiss. Two-years packed into one kiss.
