I work in molecular diagnostics designing syndromic panel tests for hospital laboratories, it’s pretty cool. We’ve been actively working on Covid-19 tests since we were given government clearance to do so and as part of our parent company we’ve released 2 of the 3 tests in development. This makes us essential employees, I have to be at my desk and in the lab. Salt Lake City went into lockdown Friday and our department is now shuffling who is essential. My boss called me this morning to let me know that since I am actively working on the Covid project and have the skills to cover anyone in our microbiology department should they go down I still have work tomorrow.
It’s nice to be needed but wow that was a weird phone call at 11am on a Sunday while still in my PJs, sipping a cup of tea while in bed relaxing
