A day after the United States and Iran signed a landmark agreement aimed at easing months of tensions, Iran's Supreme Leader Mojtaba Khamenei publicly addressed the deal for the first time, claiming that U.S. President Donald Trump was "eager" and used every possible means to push the agreement forward.

Khamenei revealed that he initially opposed the deal but eventually approved it after receiving assurances from President Masoud Pezeshkian and Iran's top security officials that the country's national interests, sovereignty, and the so-called "Resistance Front" would be protected.

The agreement, formally signed on June 18, is being seen as a major diplomatic breakthrough. However, Khamenei stressed that future dialogue with Washington should not be interpreted as acceptance of American policies and reiterated that Iran would reject any demands that undermine its strategic interests.
