Ink Month 2023 Day 23
Hypnosis
Noir knew he was in too deep, but his pride prevented him from giving in. He had him. He had the proof, the evidence, the story. All he needed was the man. Noir could hear the scolding he would receive from the others as he stopped at the end of the closed alleyway, having set up a meeting with his suspect. It was only going to be the two of them. He could handle that on his own just fine. He had his gun and his wits. He’d get him and have bragging rights for weeks.
“Hello, detective~” Noir heard the voice he was waiting for, practically purring at him. He turned and felt his confidence shake at seeing four men instead of the one he expected.
“You didn’t want to face me on your own? Had to bring extra muscle 'cause you can’t handle yourself?” Noir prodded at the suspect’s pride, hand going behind himself and grabbing the handle of his gun.
“I’m not stupid.” The man crossed his arms.
Noir knew that the man’s name was Issac. He also knew his endless lists of crimes, terrible, awful things he’s done to people for money…and because he can. He rarely killed people. He usually liked to leave his victims alive so he could watch them suffer. Watch how he ruined their lives and place bets on how he could make things worse. But he still had several murders under his belt when he didn’t get his way.
“You might not be, but apparently, you’re a coward.” Noir pulled his gun out when the three nameless men rushed at him.
His hand got knocked up, making him fire into the air, and a punch on his upper arm from another man made the gun fly across the alleyway. Noir tried to swing a punch, but two of the men grabbed his arms and held them back. Not giving up, he stomped his heel down on one of their feet, freeing his arm to grab the other and yank him down into his lifted knee. Noir couldn’t do anything else before he had two men on him again. This time, they pushed him to the ground and held his arms, each with a foot on his back. He bit his lip to prevent himself from crying out in pain. The angles they had his arms at caused a sharp burning ache in his shoulders.
“It’s cute that you think you’re tougher than you are,” Issac said as he crouched beside Noir. “But everyone has their limits.” He nodded at one of the men, who took the cue to worsen the angle of Noir’s arm. Noir tried to hold back, but the pain took over and caused him to cry out. “A little birdy told me you have someone waiting for you at home. Our loner detective got himself some ass and kept it? I wonder how they’d feel if we shipped them your body piece by piece.”
“Hey! Fuck off out of-” The remaining man started shouting but got cut off by a gunshot and his body fell limp.
“Do you have any idea what you’re doing!?” Issac shouted down the alleyway, seeing a man walking over with Noir’s gun in his hand.
“I should be asking you the same thing.” Noir recognized the voice right away.
“Get out of here before it’s too late for you,” Issac warned, pulling out his own gun.
“I wonder how they’d feel if we shipped them your body piece by piece.” The man echoed, removing his sunglasses and showing that his eyes were now purple and had a strange swirl.”I’d be pretty damned pissed.”
“Oh, I see. Trying to come save your little boyfriend?” Issac said in a mocking tone. He then turned when he heard humming behind him. “What are you two doing!?” Issac demanded when his workers released Noir and started walking toward him and the man. They were both humming a tune Issac didn’t know. “What?” He went to one of them and saw the purple in their eyes. “Are you doing this?” Issac faced the man and quickly stepped aside when said man raised the gun. In two quick pulls of the trigger, the hypnotized men were on the ground with bullet holes in their heads.
“Should have just stayed home, Issac.” The man strolled over. “Should have left what is mine alone.” Issac found himself face-to-face with the man, the purple swirls beginning to dig into his brain. A thick fog began clouding his thoughts, catching the air in his throat, and his body worked against him as the man pressed the barrel of the gun to his forehead.
“I need him alive, Murdock,” Noir said. The man clicked his tongue in disappointment.
“You got lucky,” Murdock said to Issac before cocking the gun back and bashing the handle against the side of his head, knocking Issac out cold. “Are you okay?” Murdock stepped over Issac’s body and went to Noir, helping him to his feet.
“Sore shoulders, but I’ve had worse.” Noir rubbed one of his shoulders as he spoke.
“I told you not to contact him.” Murdock scolded as he returned Noir’s gun to his holster.
“I know, I know.” Noir rolled his eyes with a smile.
“Then why did you do it?” Murdock’s eyes had returned to their natural brown when he looked at Noir.
“I had a point to prove.” Noir grinned.
“Your point should be retirement.” Murdock’s comment was one Noir knew came from a place of concern.
“I’m not that old.”
“I can take care of you.”
“Nope~” Noir popped the p.
“Noir, I-” Murdock got stopped by hands on his face.
“I am fine. I need to call this in, and then I’ll come home for some cocoa and cuddles.” Noir kissed Murdock and smiled when he felt the other man relax.
“Fine. But you’re coming home early.”
“I’ll try-”
“No. You are. That’s an order.” Murdock made a face when Noir chuckled at him.
“Yes, sir~” Noir half-sang before kissing Murdock again.
