Thunder rolls as the first giant drops of rain fall at Crowley's cloven hooves. As always, he keeps to the shadows. When he arrives at the small cottage, he stays behind the trunk of the tree as much as possible, so no one will see him. Specifically the figure moving gracefully around the interior of the log cabin that’s tucked away in the mossy woods of Crowley's territory.
The structure itself has been there for decades, but the inhabitant is new and fascinating. He can hardly stay away, as much as his conscience admonishes him for invading the privacy of others while he insists the villagers leave him alone.
He stays isolated to avoid temptation, not because he enjoys it. For Crowley is doomed not only to loneliness but also to constant wanting, and it's too much to bear.
