I used to peruse ModelMayhem. Looking at the model's pages and the photographer's pages I honestly couldn't make heads or tails of whether the photographers pay the models for a shoot, or if the models pay the photographers, or both. Can you tell us how it works, and if it's different in the fine art nude community as opposed to just plain "adult" content?
Great questions! ModelMayhem is where experienced models can put themselves out there to all different level photographers looking to book them for their experience and talent. The lines can occasionally blur, but more āeroticā shoots could be considered āplain adult contentā and you wonāt find many models that offer to shoot that on MM.
The differences in āerotic/adult contentā shoots and āfine art nudeā shoots are the setting, posing and overall theme/concept. Fine art nude is not usually intended to arouse and if youāre consuming it that way, you may be missing the art behind it all. Nudity is not always sexual. Nudity is normal. Nudity is how we all come into this world. That being said, thereās still a time and place for fine art nude shoots.
I wouldnāt send a beginner model looking to build her portfolio by paying photographers or doing TFP with them to MM, but that doesnāt mean it could also be a useful place for them to grow. Youāre just more likely to find photographers looking for experienced models that can help THEM build their portfolio, make prints, etc. ā hope this makes sense.
