Hello! If youāre okay to, may I please have a scenario where human APH England brings home his s/o for the first time for dinner to meet his family? (Including Scotland, Ireland and Wales if you can) thank you!!
I love writing about the UK broās so I really enjoyed writing this! To avoid there being too many people in the scenario, Iāve just included Scotland, Wales and Ireland since you requested them (Sealand and N. Ireland are the two other brothers mentioned). Since you havenāt requested any names, Iāve used Allistor, Dyllan and Patrick!
(Thereās British/Irish slang slotted in here. I havenāt left aĀ ādefinitionsā section, but most of them are either explained either in definition or by subsequent reaction. Also, some swearing).
āSo, Iām meeting three of your brothers tonight, right?ā
Arthur grunted in affirmation, āAs you know, Iāve got five brothers but youāll just be meeting the three of them tonight. Not that my parents donāt want to meet you, of course, theyāve said theyād love to meet you soon. As the twats were so keen to meet you, mum and dad said theyād arrange another date to get to know you, and have taken my two youngest brothers out with them for the evening.ā
Arthurās hands momentarily went white against the car wheel,Ā āYouāll see what I mean, S/O.ā
āYou donāt mention them too much apart from insults, whatāre they like?ā
After a sigh, he answered,Ā āAllistor is quite gruff regardless of how much heās had to drink, although I imagine heāll be more tempered with you. We spat a lot. Patrickās a little chirpier although just as much of a taunt. Dyllan is the quietest of the bunch and quite well-tempered in comparison to the rest of us stubborn gits. Unless his name gets pronounced wrong, that is.ā
āHowās it pronounced?ā S/O questioned,Ā āI didnāt take much notice when you said it the first time.ā
āWith the Welsh double l sound. Heāll probably let you off the hook until heās taught you, but I can never get my mouth around it. Heās the one that hates me the least out of the three of them, but he still holds a grudge over that.ā
Arthur turned his indicators on, turning into a housing estate,Ā āJust a couple more minutes. Luckily thereās no rugby on tonight, so they shouldnāt be so rowdy.ā
S/O didnāt know how relieved to be. Arthur wasnāt exactly selling his brothers.Ā
Once they pulled into a driveway, the front door of the fairly modest house opened, a brunet figure standing in the doorway. Upon Arthur and S/O opening their car doors, he spoke,Ā āEvening, both.ā
āS/O, Dyllan. Dyllan, S/O.ā
Dyllan huffed softly,Ā āItās Dyllan, ignore him.ā
Dyllan stuck his hand out for S/O to shake, who attempted to pronounce his name upon taking it,Ā āNot quite, but at least youāre having a go, unlike someone.ā
Arthur huffed, much louder than his brother,Ā āIām guessing that if youāre starting on me, then those two are going to be much worse.ā
āThey wanna see who youāve brought home. Personally, I think theyāre tidy, but you know how ruthless they can be.ā
āTidy?ā Arthur had said casual clothing was fine, so S/O hadnāt exactly dressed up.
āSāanother way of saying nice, donāt worry yourself about it,ā Dyllan smiled,Ā āAl, Pat, get here!ā
A few moments later, two redheads appear at the top of the stairway,Ā āArthur, ya dobber, who you brought home with ya?ā
āHello to you too, Allistor,ā Arthur grumbled,Ā āThis is S/O.ā
āWell, you scrub up nicely unlike the minger youāre dating. If itās the eyebrows you fancy, then us three are much better candidates.ā
āIf youāve got nothing nice to say, say nothing at all Allistor. Piss off.ā
āAlrighā, I'm doing dinner and need to go check on the meat anyway. Feel free to come chat in a bit, S/O, just donāt bring grumpy knickers with you.ā
As soon as Allistor left for the kitchen, Patrick introduced himself,Ā āStop pouting Art, heās just codding ya. Why act like the perfect fam now only for S/O to be surprised about the fact weāre a bunch of knobs. Anyway, S/O, Iām looking forward to getting to know ya!ā
Patrick and Dyllan joined Allistor in the kitchen-diner, leaving Arthur and S/O in the hallway.
āHey, they seem fun to me,ā S/O reassured their pouting boyfriend,Ā āI love how quirky humour from the British Isles is, so I want to hear you all banter.ā
āBanter?ā Arthur remarked, perking up a little,Ā āI donāt think Iāve ever said that word in front of you.ā
āIāve watched some British TV here and there. Itās pretty good.ā
Arthur recomposed himself,Ā āIām going to go upstairs for a few minutes as I need to use the bathroom, but feel free to join them.ā
S/O headed into the kitchen-diner. Patrick was lounging back on a dining room chair with a drink next to him while the two other brothers were at the kitchen counter, cutting vegetables.
āWhatāre you making?ā S/O asked.
āItās Saturday night, but weāre making Sunday roast,ā Dyllan explained,Ā āI hope youāre hungry, Allistor has cut up way too many vegetables.ā
āWeāre all growing lads, and I donāt know what S/Oās appetite is like.ā
āWeāre all in our twenties,ā Dyllan countered,Ā āAnyway, feel free to join Patrick at the table, S/O, weāve got this all sorted.ā
As S/O sat, Patrick slid his glass over to them,Ā āWanna sip?ā
āNo thanks, Iām good.ā
āDo you want anything to drink?ā
āJust water is fine.ā
āYou can drink alcohol if you want, but if thatās the case- Oi, Al! Get S/O a glass of water!ā
Arthur appeared a few minutes later, with Allistor greeting him with a,Ā āArt, whatās the similarity between you and this?ā
āYou make this stupid joke every time we have a roast. Stop calling me a Yorkshire pudding, you twerp.ā
āAhm only joking with ya, Art,ā Allistor responded,Ā āEverythingās almost done, set the table up.ā
The meal itself was far from the best, and was rather bland. But the company was far from boring. With the brotherās sardonic quips and creative but sarcastic jibes, there wasnāt any silence other than a few brief moments. And, oh boy, when Dyllan suggested they get Cluedo or Monopoly out, theirĀ ātough loveā went even further down the drain.
But S/O wasnāt the target of any of the insults unless they walked into it and the brothers were pleasant with them. That didnāt mean they were left out.
āAlright,ā Arthur said after a while,Ā āI should get S/O home, itās getting late.ā
āWhat a coincidence that youāre saying that as soon as youāve had to mortgage some of your properties.ā Dyllan smirked.
āHeās a sore loser. As sore as his backsideāll be if he doesnāt admit heād be in last place anyway.ā
āStuff off, the pair of you.ā
Patrick watched his brothers before contributing,Ā āHeās still sulking that he went first because we use theĀ āyoungest player rolls firstā rule.ā
Arthur flicked a hotel at him,Ā āāStuff offā extends to you too, you know.ā
āOi, that was ma hotel!ā Allistor yelled,Ā āYouād better get S/O home now otherwise theyāre gonna see us rugby tackle ya!ā
That was enough for Arthur to shoot off and get his shoes on.
āWe taunt the hell out of him because heās so easy to wind up, but youāre a goodāun in our books.ā Allistor said, clearly referring to S/O although his eyes were still in the direction Arthur left.
āThank you.ā S/O was slightly confused, but in the few hours theyād known the brothers, theyād already figured out that this was what they were normally like.
āNo problem!ā Patrick said,Ā āYouāre more than welcome back!ā
Dyllan nodded,Ā āAnd you make our brother happy. Even though we pretend we hate him, heās alright. But he seems more pleasant since you two met, especially since you started dating. Thank you.ā
āCāmon Dyllan, we can drink to that.ā
Dyllan passed S/O a glass,Ā āCheers.ā
The four clinked glasses, although the mood was broken by Patrick shouting,Ā āFor fecksā sake, Allistor, youāve spilt whisky on me!ā
