Youre gender queer / non-binary and thatās great, but are you content putting Ā« they them Ā» in your bio or are you actively learning how to unlearn the binary? Are you doing The work to stop using it as default or are you subconsciously pushing a binary on others? Are you immediately jumpy seeing sexuality labels that are ācontradictoryā and āconfusingā or are you able to stop and consider those might be for genderfluid and non binary and genderqueer people? Do you force people in either man/non-men or woman/non-woman without understanding that someone can be a man and/or a woman and/or a ānon-manā and/or a ānon-womanā at the same time? Or do you consider YOUR experiences as being non-binary the only āvalidā one?
Tbh as a non-biney, using queer sexuality-wise is super important to me because Im not into both men and women, and I dont want to be forced in either āgayā or āhetā. i personally (Emphasis on personally) feel these two dont reflect my gender nor my attraction, but queer expresses it so well. It doesnāt feel limiting or, uh, binary.

I know some folks get confused when hearingĀ ābi Iesbianā for the first time so I decided to make this!
(Image; a bunch of knights around a table whereĀ ābilesbianā is written, their swords drawn to the table, each sword representing a potential use of the label:
-attraction to women and non-binary people
-Bisexual homoromantic (split attraction model)
-homosexual biromantic (split attraction model)
-identifying as lesbian due to trauma with men and not wanting to date them
-people with multiple headmates/ systems/ DID
-people who see their identity as fluid, or potentially prone to change as time goes on
-a lesbian discovering her partner is a trans man, and still eing attracted to him as a man, even though she isnāt attracted to men usually
-very rare attraction to men
-Choosing to go with the historical definition of lesbian (for more info click l!) OR coming from a non-US/UK/anglophone region whereĀ ālesbianā is commonly used as an umbrella term
-questionning
-And more!)
Before clowning on this post I heavily suggest you go through this!
ĆDIT: since I keep seeing people trying toĀ ādebunkā this or w/ever i want to address a few points:
1-not all non-binary people are comfortable being included in lesbianism. If you are, good for you, but not all of us are. Itās especially uncomfortable when you wonāt stfu about men being never included in, but sayingĀ āall non-binary people are uwuā. What about non-binary men? Bigender folks? Etc?Ā āMen can never be includedā andĀ āall N-bi are includedā can NOT coexist as statements.
2- RE the SAM; a) if your sexual/romantic attraction is the same for you, coolio, but you cannot decide for others that it is not. b) not everyone wants to useĀ āhomoā for xyz reasons, hence why they go with bi gay/lesbian (nb people might not want to label themselves asĀ āSGAā)
3- a lot of systems say they can 100%Ā āfuseā, itās not unheard of.
4- Itās an absolute insult to older queers/lesbians to tell themĀ āWELL IT CHANGED! USE /MY/ DEFINITION!!1!ā. How fucking dare you try to take their lives experiences from them, ESPECIALLY WHEN, whether you like it or not, the current definition ofĀ āno men allowedā is a direct result from political lesbianism and radical feminism [see previous link]. People have every right to reject this/refuse to uphold this history.
5- at the end of the day, people donāt owe u labels that make you comfortable. If someone vibes with lesbian, you can cope with it or keep crying. No one thinks you are secretly into men by the way; I sure am not into men myself, other queer people with funky labels doesnāt change that nor āinvalidatesā me because Iām not insecure. I also still think defining lesbianism asĀ ālong menā rather thanĀ ālyes I love womenā is stupid.
If your labels are set in stone, if you have never had exceptions, thatās great. But the queer experience is diverse, your experiences with your gender/sexuality do not invalidate others, and vice versa. Take a chill pill, stop trying to split the community appart over the pettiest of bullshit.
Last note; remember you canāt always tell someoneās gender. Someone you may assume is a woman might be a man, someone you may assume is a man might be non-binary. Keep that in mind next time you sayĀ āmen can never be included!,1!1ā³
HOPEFULLY THE LAST EDIT:
If this post makes you mad: I donāt give a shit. If you reply, I wonāt give a shit.
This post is for people who want to know why someone might use the label in good faith. Nothing more nothing less. Ā If you want to start a fight go elsewhere. Iāve heard everything you could possibly say and i do not give a shit what some insecure 15 years old with 0 knowledge of queer history, who has been drinking the radf3m lite/lesbian separatism juice on Twitter.hell and tumblr.shitĀ has to say. If you hate the post, block me and move on, donāt waste your saliva here.
This post was made by some bitch who isnāt a man and who has never been attracted to men. Somehow, still, I donāt care how people label themselves. Make of that what you fucking will.
If you love women, andĀ ālesbianā is what feels right to describe you, just use itā if lesbian makes you feel happy, go for it! Labels are for you first and foremost to feel comfortable! If lesbian makes you feel all warm and fuzzy, fucking superb you funky little lesbian!
In the same vein, if you personally are uncomfortable with the word, even if you fit the basic definition, itās perfectly fine! If youād rather be called gay, queer, sapphic, even dyke, or anything else, super valid! Once again, labels are for you to be comfortable!
Just be you and be happy! I love you ā¤ļøš§”šššš
i'm so tired of exclusionists. i'm not sure if you were aware of all the drama that happened awhile back with the LGBTA Wiki, but basically, they rewrote the lesbian page to be fully inclusive of lesbian history, bi lesbians, and lesbian men, and exclusionists went crazy. i was the one who rewrote the page. and i had so many people coming into my messages, screaming at me, telling me to off myself, saying the most horrible stuff about bi lesbians and lesboys, and it got to the point where i couldn't sleep at night because i was so anxious about it and the thought of going anywhere that wiki, which had been like a second home for me, made me panic. i've barely been on it since, and i'm not going back. how can exclusionists say that they're protecting queer people. they joined together to purposefully harass queer people. they had no problem driving queer people away from a queer safe space. they claim to be wielding their shitty beliefs as a way to "protect queer people" but as soon as it's a queer person who disagrees with them, they don't give a crap about protection. i lost my safe space and got traumatized because of these dipshits, and in the following six months i've gotten ever more viciously inclusionist and it just reminds me of what i went through every time i see exclusionism, it just wells inside me with rage. i used to say that i love everyone in the queer community but they've ruined that for me too. all they do is ruin things and it's not fair.
Iām gonna reply publicly. If you want me to delete it, feel free to contact me and I will, I would hate more harassment your way.
I have definitely heard of the wiki changing, because, unfortunately, I spend too much time on Twitter.
It filled with with absolute /rage/, that people would lose their mind about a non issue like this, while queer people kept/keep getting murdered. I think it happened at the same time Hungary got worse too.
But people decided a bunch of words on the internet was the Hot Issueā¢ļø here. It still makes me so angry thinking about it.
As for you: Thank you for your work *presses f*
Jokes aside I am horribly sorry about what happened to you. This shit is horrendous. It is very clear these people really only care about cis gays (if that) rather than looking out for the whole community. I canāt imagine dealing with this, and I really hope these days are better for you. Stuff like this always make me want to be even more inclusive.
There are more people who support you than you might realize, and if you need anything feel free to contact us.
