i also think that what might make it easier for his future spouse is knowing that mary will no doubt pass down the support that she received from margrethe. we’ve seen how much more difficult the job becomes when you don’t have that kind of support, and having married in herself, i’m sure mary will be keen to continue to carry that torch. the comparisons will be inevitable (unfortunately), but along with what you said, that support will mean a lot.
and regarding the average royal’s work, i think a good comparison is someone who also works in global development. fact of the matter is that the “work” that the royals do (when they actually work) isn’t uncommon, the amount of praise is. but the average person with a career in global development or in a national ambassadorship role spends countless more hours than the average royal... literally at work, lol. mary was posting pics on the gram at graasten yesterday. she’s vibing. 😂
Exactly! Your point about Daisy’s support is also really important because I think that’s a big reason Mary has succeeded in carving out this role for herself. Daisy has a radically different approach and is also much more conservative but she’s never tried to limit Mary (or anyone, really) or dictate a certain approach. On the contrary, she’s explicitly said that she thinks of it as a strength that they’re all doing it in their own way and has no interest in meddling. If only that was the stance in all royal families 🙄
The overworked royals narrative is honestly so insufferable and out of touch with reality 🙈 Like there are numerous downsides to being a royal but an unbearable workload is not it. They’re good, they’ll manage 😂
