anyways...Here's some of my headcanons!! AYYY

☆While originally thought to be magicless Earth Ponies actually have their own type of magic due to their attunment to the earth

☆Unicorns typically have slender builds since they're built for being fast and nimble

☆Pegasi have a smaller build than Earth Ponies but typically have a slightly larger build than Unicorns

☆Earth Ponies are the strongest of the pony races

☆Zebras were once extinct in Equestria but once the population of Manticores dropped Zebras began returning and became a recognized pony race

☆Not all Zebras speak in rhyme, this actually depends on the herd a zebra is originally from, some herds sing or chant everything, some take vows of silence or speak in neighs and yips

☆Bat Ponies are an example of convergent evolution but are a separate race of ponies

☆It took centuries for Bat Ponies to be recognized as an official pony race especially after Nightmare Moon appeared

☆Pegasi have dense muscles and honeycombed bones like the horns on long horned cattle

☆Crystal Ponies have thicker coats, grow larger and stronger, and have dappled coats due to their cold environment and the ambient magic in the Crystal Empire

☆For many years in Equestria marriage outside of a pony's race was illegal, it took an unnamed Unicorn and Pegasus couple to break the stigma alongside an Earth Pony and Bat Pony couple

☆Same sex marriage has only been legal in Equestria for two hundred years and the law was only changed to allow same sex marriage when civil war was threatened

❌️While rare a Unicorn and Pegasus union can cause an Alicorn to be born, however these incidents were mostly before Equestria started and there were tensions between the pony races meaning the unions were secret and short lived. Pegasus mares would cut the horns off alicorn foals and marry a Pegasus with the closest coat/mane color to the foal while Unicorn mares cut the wings off

☆ While breeding between the races became more common so did birth defects, most prominently seen in Unicorns and Pegasi

☆Scootaloo has a condition called Underdeveloped Wings Syndrome, it's a genetic condition that effects every 1 in 10 Pegasi with Earth Pony genes and every 1 in 20 pure bred Pegasi. Scootaloo's mom carries the gene so even if her dad was a Pegasus there's a very high chance her wings would still be underdeveloped. While the wings look fine the bones and muscles didn't develop properly. Bulk Biceps also has Underdeveloped Wings Syndrome

☆Sweetie Belle has Underdeveloped Magic Syndrome, it's a counterpart to Underdeveloped Wings Syndrome, it effects every 1 in 10 Unicorns with Earth Pony, Zebra, Bat Pony, or Pegasus genes, and every 1 in 20 pure bred Unicorns, it's why Sweetie Belle doesn't use/ actively struggles with her magic

☆Applebloom was born prematurely which is why she's smaller than she should be. As an Apple she's a work horse so she should be the tallest out her classmates but due to her growth being stunted she's about the same height/shorter than most of her classmates

☆Celestia and Luna were orphans when Starswirl met them and became their mentor and the parent figure to the two princesses when they returned to Equestria together

☆Cadence has honeycombed bones due to having been a Pegasus

☆Twilight did not gain this trait when she became an Alicorn

☆It is unclear if Flurry Heart also has honeycombed bones

☆Flurry Heart is the first Alicorn on record born in Equestria since Celestia and Luna were born in Skyros

☆Changelings originally lived in the Crystal Empire and were in their reformed appearance but were exiled when a Changeling Queen went mad and tried to steal the Crystal Heart. This caused the Changelings to revert to their original base form before changing back under the rule of King Thorax

☆Thorax is the first ever Changeling King

☆Spike can switch between walking on two legs and all fours

☆Dragons, Hippogriffs, Griffins, Sea Ponies, and Changelings are all omnivores while Ponies are strictly herbivores with the acceptance of eating eggs
