I probably haven't talked about this, but their elements will stay the same. I never really liked the idea that her and Rainbow should switch elements, because Rainbow was blunt in a way that wasn't helpful to the situation her friends were dealing with. And yes AJ lied, but she was honest when it came to talking to her friends. And if she wasn't, it was the main focus of the episode.
Anyway, AJ stays relatively the same. I really like her already, but when she was a foal she grew up faster than she would have liked. The farm was so glum without her parents, and with everyone in mourning. Chores felt like a hassle, baby Applebloom's crying kept her up, and their work load doubled. Bright Mac and Buttercup were strong, hard workers. Aj and Big Mac were too young to do it all alone, and Granny was getting up in ages. Work was a bit harder for her than it used to be. Plus, caring for 3 young foals alone wasn't easy. Aj, wanting a change of pace, decides to move in with her Aunt and Uncle Orange. They were both excited to have her, they always wanted a foal. They pampered her to no end, fed her so many fancy meals, bought her cute clothes (despite her not understanding why ponies need clothes), and gave her anything she wanted. What she really wanted was her old life back. She would reminisce about playing with her parents on the farm, and how much she missed everyone. After a few months, Aunt and Uncle Orange had Babs Seed! Aj wanted to be happy for them, but all she could see was her baby sister. After seeing a rainbow pointing her back home, she took it as a sign.
