Okay even though you literally killed me with my last request on drarry, I still find myself coming back for more! đ⤠and if you're still up for it, can you maybe write a part two where the impact of what harry did finally dawns on him and how he chooses to deal with it? #drarry
He should have never fallen for a Gryffindor.  Brash idiots, all of them.  With Harry Bloody Potter leading the charge.
It had been a full week since Draco had seen Harry at the Ministry again. Â Whether that was by design of his own subconscious or Harry Potter avoiding him, he couldnât be sure.Either way, he didnât have time to think of it. Â Being allowed to work at the Ministry at all was a miracle. Â Being allowed to be a part of the Department of Mysteries was something else entirely and he could not afford to fuck this up.
If he had lost Potter he wasnât going to loose his job as part of the collateral damage. Â In fact, it was now even more crucial for Draco to keep his job and do well so that nobody could say he was only there because heâd been screwing the Ministryâs brightest Auror-in-training. Â (The fact that he hadnât been and that theyâd only been dating casually for a few months wasnât going to stop anyone from saying it.)
Following the Week of Avoidance came the Week of Attention-Seeking Behavior. Â Potter would call out to him across the Atrium, budge his way over to stand next to Draco in the lift, and generally annoy the ever-loving shit out of Draco as much as possible.
Then came the Week of Following. Â He was everywhere. Â There in the mornings with a cup of coffee, at his customary table at lunch (and getting up to sit at a closer one when Draco chose a different table at random), there in the afternoon with a cuppa and today was sitting outside the door to the Department of Mysteries when Dracoâs shift ended.
Seeing the mop of messy black hair a few paces away down the hallway, Draco took a steadying breath. Â Harry looked up from where he was sitting on the floor when he heard the nearly silent door close.
As Draco walked past, determined to still not talk to him, Harry scrambled up and began walking behind the slightly taller man.
âYou arenât even to know where the DOM is.â He didnât look back nor alter his stride.
âGuess Iâm in the right line of work then.â
âThe majority of people donât even know it exists. Â Even within the Ministry.â
âYes, well, Iâve seem to got this habit of knowing things I shouldnât.â Â Draco glanced at him out of the corner of his eye. Â âAnd doing things I shouldnât.â Â Draco scoffed. Â âAnd saying things I donât mean without thinking,â he finished softly.
Draco didnât even realize heâd slowed down until he felt Harry reaching for his hand.
Draco looked down to where their hands were barely intertwined.
âIf weâre going to make this work,â Harry said as he took a step closer, âweâre going to have to learn how to deal with the high stress of our jobs.â
Draco snorted and looked up to see that Harry was standing much closer than he had been before.
âIs that what Granger told you?â
âYes,â said Harry, smiling.  âSheâs often right though.â  After another moment of silence, in which Draco had begun slowly rubbing his thumb against the rough tanned finger next to his own, Harry said âWeâre going to need to learn how to not blow up at each other-â
Draco jerked his head up, a look of indignation on his face. Â He hadnât been the one!
âI need to learn to control my temper and not lash out,â Harry continued, âbut you canât keep freezing me out either.â  Draco closed his mouth at that.  Harry gripped their hands tighter.
âYou really...â Draco cleared his throat and adjusted his posture as if heâd heard someone coming around the corner, although he didnât let go of holding Harryâs hand. Â âYou really want to-â
âYes,â Harry said, stepping impossibly closer. Â âI want to make a real go of this.â Â He brought his hand up to Dracoâs neck, his thumb brushing against Dracoâs sharp jawline. Â âCan I kiss you now?â
