These 2 folks were a delight to talk to. The person on the left wound up mentioning he saw me dancing to the luscious percussion that came from a group of drummers. I was doing my usual rumba and conga schtick, not caring anymore what anyone thought of me, waving my camera in the air and just getting into how I felt. The person on the right was actually taking pictures with their Nikon. I had initially sen them taking with another photographer at the event, who I wound up comparing Sony alpha notes with. Then later, we wound up discussing photography for a bit after i asked if I could take their picture. Both were lovely spirits, full of energy and joy and awe, even during such difficult times.
True story to find for Dr. King holiday. And Stevie Wonder happy birthday.. and Charlie Kirk. And yes, John McCain voting against Dr. King holiday..
Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Day didn’t just “happen.” It had to be fought for.
Stevie Wonder helped lead a national movement to make it real—using his voice, his platform, and his music to push America to honor Dr. King. And even then, some leaders voted against it.
John McCain was one of them early on—something he later admitted was wrong. That’s the part people don’t like to talk about: Even honoring a man who preached nonviolence, justice, and equality was controversial.
Let that sink in.
Progress has always been resisted before it’s accepted.
