Prompt: Merry Christmas indeed! Chris hosts his annual Christmas party and everyone is invited...with a surprise sprig of mistletoe or two around the house
Word Count: 1658
Warnings:
Author’s Note: 2nd Day of Christmas!
It was more than kind of Chris Evans to invite you to his annual Christmas Bash, you were only a minor character in Infinity Wars, but it felt great that your co-stars were more than welcoming and supportive.
“Really Y/N, my hand didn’t slip when I wrote out your address. Just come to the party, everyone else is gonna be there and there’s gonna be plenty of stuff to do. It’ll be fun I promise.” He had said after you texted him to make sure the invitation wasn’t a mistake. “Besides, it’s Boston in December, who wouldn’t love that!”
So you packed a weekend bag and flew to Boston taking a cab to the hotel Chris had gotten a block of rooms reserved at. There were too many people to stay at his house but the hotel was only a short distance, it would be perfect.
Checking in and finding your room you decided to go explore the section of the city you were in, hanging up your dress and getting bundled up against the cold Northeastern air you set out walking the streets.
It wasn’t until your stomach made an obscene hunger noise that you realized how long you had really been out there, instead of walking back(partially because you didn’t know which direction you had come from anymore) you ordered an Uber and drove back in the warmth of the backseat.
“Y/N!” You turned towards the lounge area and smiled as Anthony Mackie and Elizabeth Olsen stood. “What are you doing outside, are you crazy or something?”
“I’ve never been here,” You explained hugging them quickly. “I wanted to see some of the city.”
Lizzie took your elbow and pushed you towards her seat next to the fire. “Warm up then, there’s hot chocolate over there too I’ll go get you some.”
“Motherly as always.” You laughed with Mackie taking off your several layers as you did so. “I’m glad Chris invited you, I wanted to ask how the show went and didn’t get your number before filming wrapped.”
After your introduction in Civil War, you had flown up to Vancouver to film for a show pilot, if all went well you would be the main character and they had agreed to work around your Marvel schedule if need be. “It was amazing! I’m working with the same team that does The Flash so there’s a little rivalry going on but everyone was great.”
“I hope it gets picked up then, it’ll be nice seeing one of our own rocking the silver screen.”
Lizzie had come back with a steaming cup of chocolate goodness and you smiled in thanks. “I just saw Sebastian walk in, I’m gonna let him know we’re all here.”
It had been a secret you vowed to keep that Sebastian Stan was your major Hollywood crush. There was no way you were going to open up that can of worms to people like Anthony and Chris, even Jeremy wouldn’t let you live it down if he knew. So when your cheeks flushed at the mention of his name it was easy to explain that the cocoa was warming you up quickly and give a contented sigh.
Mackie got to talking about his kids telling you how excited they were for the next movie to come out, they loved being able to call their dad a superhero. “They don’t really know ‘Avenger’ yet so I’ll take what I can get. There he is!” He jumped up jogging around the table to give Seb a warm hug. “Glad you could make it man.”
“Me too, it’s been awhile since I’ve gotten to relax.”
“And you think this is gonna be relaxing?”
Seb turned to you and smiled. “Look what the cat dragged in, good to see you Y/N!”
“You too! I think there’s still a few people missing though.”
Hemsworth was staying in Australia with his family this year, Mark was working a charity circuit, and RDJ was going to make an appearance at the party the next day. Still, the four of you stayed in the lobby well into the night laughing and carrying on much to the amusement of the people working the front desk.
A few people had walked through asking for pictures or autographs, a few not even asking before snapping a few candid shots from the lobby, but none of it could ruin the spirit.
Finally, around three, everyone decided it was time to get to bed agreeing to meet up for breakfast the next morning. It was easy to sink into the bed and immediately fall asleep, it was even easier waking up knowing that you would be spending time with Sebastian today.
A knock at the door broke your concentration with straightening your hair that morning and as Lizzie stepped into the room you knew she wouldn’t mind if you finished, even grabbing the flat iron to get tricky spots you’d missed. “Have you been online yet this morning?”
“No, why?”
“People posted the pictures from last night, there’s a few goods ones, but a lot of the articles are going theory crazy with why you’re here. As if they don’t already know.” Taking out her phone she flipped through a few pictures. “This one’s my favorite.”
It was a shot of the four of you laughing hard at some story Mackie was telling, you in particular were crinkley-eyed and open mouth laughing. If you were telling the truth it was actually a good picture. But that’s not what Lizzie was trying to show you.
Sebastian’s eyes were completely trained on you, a look on his face as if your laugh was the greatest thing he had ever heard. If you were a stranger looking in you would instantly think that this guy was a boyfriend or lover, but as he was neither the only other option was that he was keeping some kind of feelings from you.
“That story was pretty funny.”
“That’s not it at all, and you know it!” Another knock and the boys walked in. “We’re almost done she just needs to put her shoes on.”
Grabbing your boots and outer layers you set off down the hall dressing as you walked.
Getting ready for the party you were focused on doing your make up and making sure the dress you had brought fit you well enough. Chris had said it was a “nice-casual” setting which meant absolutely nothing to you, so you brought a simple black dress. It fell to you mid thigh and had a lace overlay, the actual dress body stopping at your armpits and lace covering the rest of your chest and arms. Elegant and casual if you wanted. At least you wouldn’t be under dressed.
“I got us a car. Meet in the lobby in 5 mins.”
The group text went out and you were glad for the foresight to do your hair this morning. The boys were already in the lobby when you stepped off the elevator laughing at something, but when Anthony turned to look he stopped and whistled. “Damn girl! How come you never dress for us like that?”
“What makes you think this isn’t for you?” He clutched his heart as you threw a cheeky wink and Seb just chuckled.
Lizzie joined a minute later and just in time as the car pulled up out front and Seb got the alert. Your legs were freezing, the nylons doing nothing to combat the frigid temperatures of a Boston night so you were glad when the middle seat was where you ended up. Both guys on either side of you and their body heat warming you rapidly along with the car’s heater.
Chris’ party was already in full swing when you got there, his family having arrived an hour early to exchange gifts, and he was more than excited to welcome you all. “Coats can all go in there, drinks and food is in the kitchen feel free to get whatever. There are kids around so maybe no saying fuck or something like that.”
He hugged each of you smiling and laughing as he did. “How’d the pilot go Y/N?”
“Pilot?”
Seb looked confused. “Yeah, after Civil War I went up to shoot for a new show. We got a few episodes filmed already to we have a head start just in case but the producers are really excited about it.”
You got congrats from everyone before excusing yourself for a drink offering to bring anything back. “I’ll come with you, Chris always hides the good beer.”
“That’s not true and you know it!” The offended party called after you two.
“I didn’t know about the show, that’s really exciting. And congratulations, it’s a big thing to get picked up like that.”
You shrugged taking an open bottle from him. “It doesn’t hurt that I’m in an Avengers movie now either.”
“Still, you should be proud of that work. Cheers.”
Neither of you were paying much attention to the surroundings, instead enjoying the conversation but when Chris walked over wearing a shit eating grin you knew something was up. “I may have hidden a few surprises around the house. Look up.”
There, taped to the bannister, was a sprig of mistletoe hanging in all its glory directly above you. Several pairs of eyes were on the pair of you watching and waiting to see what was going to happen. Eventually, you broke away from the plant and looked to Sebastian. His eyes were locked on yours instantly. It was automatic the way your bodies gravitated towards each other and without really knowing what was happening everyone around roared in cheers as your lips connected.
“I won’t lie,” Seb whispered as the commotion died down. “I’ve wanted to do that for awhile.”
“Keep catching me under the mistletoe and maybe you will.”
You’d have to make sure to thank Chris profusely later on.
