2024 (art)

in august i started sketching out a painting of i-no but ultimately it didn't go anywhere. ...yet.

i never ended up sharing it but i also colored this samsung notes alucard from march with overlay and i think it kind of put me on the path of these from a few months later

before that dante from march i did this. i think the way i styled him for these was fun

toward the end of january i did a drawing of felicia that was a sort of redraw of some art from i think darkstalkers 2 with the colors separated to recolor into some of her different palettes from 3 for fun and i remembered that, but i forgot about the sketches i did before that. here's one i like

because of the fact that i had my colors split up by layer, i had names for them detached from the color (since it would change), including

individual layers for her eyes that together read "she can finally see!"

the singular visible paw pad's layer named "one dabloons"

the fur being named "cosplayers are so brave"

the day before that i drew some witch. i don't remember her deal but i Love the way i colored her hair

2024 (misc)

newest layer on a drawing being named "i gotta get my gay ass to sleep" and the time it was last edited being 11:30-ish at night. i don't remember if i actually did manage to go to sleep right after that but the fact i actually did stop working on it at a reasonable time to sleep instead of continuing until like 2am for once was funny to me

layers for one of the alexes from march having names including "drrrrroplets", "he didnt bring an umbrella </3", "i hate liquids ive decided", and "oh wow rain actually sucks severely to add in post" as i trial and errored my way through the rain

for the sol from january that i try to forget about every time i look at it, the third image in the process reblog was actually merged down to a single layer named "me likey men" because i love this video and it is a permanent fixture in my brain

the multiple instances of me painting a ground on a canvas and then just doing nothing with it

drawing of wolverine i didnt post that has a layer for his hair named "he and vegeta go to the same barber but he pays him better"

before that, having drawn everything else, layer named "i started getting a headache???????". draw your own conclusions

drawing of alex that i tried to angle up but just ended up looking like he was squinting that i then named "me when im in a car and i didnt bring my sunglasses"

alex that did not go well (by the way i drew many more alexes than i posted while i was obsessed with him you're probably noticing) and was so stiffly posed that it was in a layer folder named "oh no this is an action figure"

2023

this alucard from the end of the year never got finished so i never posted it in full but this is where i got before just falling off of it for reasons including "i need more space on the canvas so you can actually see the thing he's throwing" and "i don't want to do this on my phone"

i also made a copy with the layers merged down so it would be smaller and save faster while i was working on it but it ended up being almost the exact same size by the time i was done with it. also as a bonus here is the first sketch. i think its funny how dinky it is and then it ended up leading into probably the thing i was most proud of last year. also at one point i was drawing over it to see if i wanted to adjust the anatomy and i did it in a bright lime green for contrast. the layer was named "redlining for dogs" and it took me a moment to realize why i named it like that but it got me almost a year later. that is possibly my cheesiest layer name in recent memory

i forgot about the earlier sketches for that gabriel i did and seeing them now im like "why didn't i paint these that's way cooler" but i think that's also probably why i went for the simpler one since i was still getting a handle on painting as a whole and i also didn't want to spend a lot of time on it. i don't know why i used a brush that soft though bc like. looking at it even briefly just now kind of hurt and i don't know how i just did that. but it's also possible that's exactly why i didn't want to stick with it for very long actually. anyways

i had an idea where i'd have the majority of the colors for this meg drawing be desaturated but have the highlights be really bright which is actually kind of the reverse of a much more recent thing that i posted in the middle of writing this. while trying to find the colors though, i ended up with this really nice kind of indigo blue that i was sad i'd have to not use for the rest of the piece to work, but honestly it's still such a nice blue. also before that i drew the alucards i posted in the days before on the same canvas, as well as this random jolyne in clothes i think could kind of slay. i don't remember if there was any reason i drew jolyne specifically, i think it was just for fun

there's also this very doodley drawing of zagreus but in the satan shoes and i'm like "okay that feels like it shouldn't be a whole megabyte what is happening here" and what happened there was for some reason i had layers for like every part of him. i don't know why
