I don’t make enough of my own physical content around the fandoms I enjoy (apart from half written fanfic) so I treat tumblr like queer mentally ill twitter
so to contribute, here’s a cute pic from the final toronto CC curtain call
The Halved Too Long/Too Short Harry Potter Hits Toronto

The Toronto Theatre Review: Harry Potter and the Cursed Child By Ross Pulled and compacted together, Harry Potter and the Cursed Child the stage show has been reborn, both on the road and on the Broadway and West End stage. Most magically, I might add, albeit only the West End production remains as the one and only place…

Toronto Theatre Rant
So, if some of you don't know, I'm a born and raised Torontonian. I've been proud to call TO my one true home for two decades. However, it is also a garbage city sometimes, and nothing is more garbage than goddamn fucking Mirvish.
Background: the Mirvish Theatre Company, or just Mirvish, was created by beloved businessman and philanthropist Ed Mirvish. Ed was a sweet, wonderful man who gave back to the community in so many ways. Nowadays, his theatre company owns practically all the big theatres in town, so they have a monopoly on mainstream theatre. Unfortunately good ol' Honest Ed died awhile ago and his son, David Mirvish, took over.
Fuck. David. Mirvish.
Under him, all the good work Ed did for the community has been undone while David gets rich. And Mirvish Theatre has become cheap and shitty to the Nth degree. They charge waaaaay too much for tickets knowing there's literally nowhere else to go for the show's they have. Total monopoly holding hypercapitalist scuzzballs. I didn't think they could get any worse, but today they really outdid themselves.
My family bought Hamilton tickets for this May. Unfortunately the show got cancelled because of Covid-19. Understandable, that's not what I'm upset about. What I am beyond pissed about is that Mirvish sent out an email notifying ticket holders that they WOULD NOT be getting their money back immediately. Instead they would have "Mirvish credits" that they would be able to put toward new tickets when the theatres open again. Oh and everyone who spent literal HOURS waiting to get Hamilton tickets won't get guaranteed tickets when the show comes back, instead we have "priority" to use our credits to buy them again. And we shouldn't ask for a refund because "your personal information could be compromised if you ask for a refund" and we "need to support the arts community in this trying time."
ARE. YOU. KIDDING. ME?!?!?!?!
FUCK YOU FUCK YOU FUCK YOU!!!!!!!
You don't get to scare people out of getting their hard earned money back from you after David Mirvish sold a Toronto landmark for over a BILLION dollars!!! How about you take some cash out of that shady ass realty deal, huh Davy?! And how are you not giving us guaranteed tickets to a show you charged us through the nose for and made us wait hours to even get a place at?!?! That is the least you can do when none of this is the customer's fault.
And in no world are you, Mirvish, the "starving arts community." You guys make millions every year because you are a monopoly. If I wanna support the arts I will buy from indie places and give money to the small theatres doing interesting work! Hell I'll give to the actors and crew directly before I ever, EVER give my money to Mirvish in the name of supporting the arts.
Fuck you Mirvish. You can kiss my Kosher Toronto ass. Rant over.

Waving Through a Window (From Dear Evan Hansen) - Robert Markus & Toronto Cast of Dear Evan Hansen
Zach Piser as Evan Hansen in Toronto is a must-see. I’ve seen the show 5 times (twice Broadway, three times Toronto) with 4 different Evans, and he is second only to Ben Platt in my books. I know the script really well by now, but Zach brought new meaning and nuances to so many lines. He played with dynamics really well (both singing- and acting-wise). I fully believed he was Evan Hansen; I fully believe he was made for this role. He cried so many times and completely emptied his heart out to us, and that is an incredible thing to experience. If you can get to Toronto, you HAVE TO SEE HIM as Evan. He’s the alternate so he does Wednesday and Saturday matinees; you can get $25 student rush or $39 general rush online at 9am (I’ve done this twice and it hasn’t been hard to get the general rush).
Also, he is the first Asian Evan and we need to support this kind of representation! Please don’t miss out on seeing his groundbreaking performance. I will never forget it and I want everyone to go see him!
