Today at 1pm CST I'll be streaming a very casual Mirrors Edge race with my wife cora-doll. We have both played the game to completion several times in the past but haven't touched it in at least a few years. This will be an all cutscenes run and we are gonna blast through it in one go. No stakes on the line or anything just a for fun thing. Come hang out if ya like.

Its meant to be a parkour game so you'd expect fluid and continuous movement and perhaps it is a skill issue but it felt so incredible stop-start-y, the runner's vision, even on full, is really not clear unless you are already in a tight spot which is only in one direction anyway. The controlls, while tight, dont feel very intuitive idk. If you angle yourself the tinies centimeter to the left you run into a wall and fully lose all momentum so unless you're perfect, you's just gonna be readjusting every two seconds, and if you fall its an incredibly long loading screen (for a game that's supposed to be continuous) before you can attempt again. Felt very clunky in that way. Also the way the prerecorded cutscenes interupt very frequently with the annoying white-out ruins any immersion tbh

Also i played for almost 2hrs and had so many cutscenes but never once was i given a reason to care about any of the characters. They aren't really given any character other than "we hate eachother" or "we are tough rebellion people" its very flat tbh. Also we do a whole ton of "runs" with no reason much other than "deliveries" for the main quest which like, i dont care about. If the entire game is practically delivering things places then what is rhe point? Also i have not been given a single reason to care about faith. She is a closed off character and really just a "i do what i want to do because i think im better and know better than everyone else" kind of character which is really just not a likeable or particularly interesting character trope. They all seem very flat and the main story seems to be rn "we hate governent, government bad" and there is really just no personal stake in this to make me care about it, faith has no personal stake other than not wanting to be in prison (and her parents who we arent given any reason to care about being taken) to make me care about taking down the government to keep me invested in that aspect.
