Today someone whom I thought I’d never hear from reached out to me

After a whole year of silence

And ignoring each other in public

Not acknowledging each other’s existence

And having this air of resentment wherever we went

She gave me the closure I needed though, and for that I am grateful.

Even though it took a year, I can honestly move forward and continue to strive to be a better friend

Even though I may not have the opportunity to show her that

Thank you for being silent for a year

You know its the weirdest thing, seeing people who I was once close too look so unfamiliar and foreign.

You know that feeling where the person you knew doesn’t and probably will never exist ever again? How you’re in a weird state of mind because they are like strangers but you’re connected with them through a past only you and them will ever share.

When you subconsciously have to ignore them or not acknowledge their presence... it’s a confusing place to be at. It would be much easier if they were just strangers.

But sadly, that’s not the case.

But it’s mostly to think about how I was right, you’re exactly where I said you would be now

That makes me sad, because I know you could have done great things

But it also makes me happy, because I know if things worked out, I’d be right there... in the same place as you.

And the thought of that instantly brings me back to my great reality.

3 years ago, I used to dream of being out of credit card debt, to find a job/career that I loved to do, made me feel fulfilled, and is in the city.

Fast forward to today, I have no credit card debt (paying things off on time actually), starting off my career in Customer Success Management where I not only make a great salary with amazing benefits, but I also live in Toronto (well for the past two months I’ve been in Waterloo because of COVID)

3 years ago I was in rock bottom... I didn’t think I could achieve the things I have now. Being financially stable/literate, working at a reputable company with big potential to move up and grow, and be in a happy and healthy relationship.

Now my dreams are to excel in my job, build my emergency savings fund, buy my first luxury item (either a bag or jewelry), and to live with boyfriend in an apartment or house that we own together.

honestly it still a little surreal that I’ll be going in a few weeks! Mike and I are finalizing the last little bits of our trip now and seeing the itinerary come to life makes me so happy!

My mom even gave me $200 worth of Korean money as a gift! Honestly excited to relax, eat all the yummy foods, buy so much stuff, and make so many great memories with mike!
