Knock knock! Who's there? A minstrel bug! Although adults sport all the livery of a medieval jester, their black and orange stripes are actually a way to warn potential predators that they don't taste good. They can be found throughout most of Europe, despite being often referred to as an Italian striped bugs.

Minstrel bug on forget me nots - not a random choice, today is ME awareness day, and forget me nots are widely used as the symbol. Graphosoma lineatum

....Sometimes known as the Italian Striped Bug or Minstrel Bug, G. lineatum is a species of stink bug (Pentatomidae) which occurs throughout most of Europe, North Africa, and the Near East. The striking red and black color of G. lineatum is aposematic, indicating to predators that G. lineatum is unpalatable. Like other stink bugs G. lineatum feeds on plant material and is known to accosiate with members of Apiaceae (typically Heracleum, Anthriscus, and Foeniculum spp.) and flowers of Bunium bulbocastanum.
