It all started out with a substantial, old-world looking tile. I still have this mosaic sitting in my office because I love it so much. It has slightly uneven edges just enough to look hand made. I called this the old world kitchen because I kept thinking about a kitchen in Italy that I saw in a tiny town outside of Milano. @jeffreycourttile // Then I designed the @pella windows to be stacked with awnings below. Something we see time and time again in the Midwest. // Now add in a rustic cabinetry in a certain cool-toned gray @midcontientcabinetry @masterbrandcabinetry The cabinetry color was a favorite because it has a hint of blue in the gray. One of the kindest photographers I’ve ever met is @eviabeler She’s repped by the same agency as me in New York @bigleoproductions. I had hauled some props to NYC for this editorial and Evi combined some of her personal collection to the mix as well. She was so collaborative and inspiring. // I remember shopping for this project in Harlem and loving every single minute of it. I would do it again in heartbeat. There were great boutiques and restaurants right around the corner from where we shot. The tree lined streets are just as picturesque as you can imagine. // Right after this shoot we shot for a jewelry maker. Swipe to see one of the shots. The kitchen of my dreams is designed with two faucets. One for my husband and one for me. He’s the one cooking in our house and inevitably I will be in the way. I need to fill a water bottle or a dog dish or something and then I’m in the way. Here, I designed a simple kitchen with a huge prep space on the island and loads of cooking and cleaning space on the perimeter. // The cabinets were custom made by our build crew and @northerncontours. We custom fabricated @caesarstone quartz for a modern #farmhouse look and feel. I specified @berensonhardware and @american_standard faucets and sinks. // All of our appliance selections were @LGUSA. They were so easy to work with and everything was standardized so installation was a breeze. This kitchen was built in our studio and we swapped around components to create different scenarios. This scene was the "pizza boy". We opened and shut the range oven to pull out a pizza. I made the pizza across the studio in another oven so we wouldn't dirty the new range. It was bubbly and hot and smelled so good. We let our talent eat it after this take because it was so enticing. // We also shot this kitchen for @mnmomag from multiple angles. The angle I remember most was the super skinny crop showing the faucet on the island. We'd created two scenarios where the faucet was against a simple or plain background. Frontenac State Park, South of Red Wing, nice views - probably not a great place for toddlers that are prone to running, lots of opportunities to fall in the river. Therefore, backpacks w/ tails/handles are a necessity.
