I think you have to be slightly sadistic to be a Minnesotan. You can be the nicest of folks, and you will be if you are raised properly in Minnesota as we have a reputation to uphold. The sadistic aspect comes when someone visits Minnesota from a southern state. You wish upon them the harshest of weather, the most terrible of storms, the most bitter of colds, all so that you can stand next to them as they suffer in their two layers of coats and say unto them, "Oh ya, I suppose it is cold. You should have been here last year though. Oh boy that was a cold one." If you are truly Minnesota born and bred, nothing will bring you greater joy than offering them your coat in a storm because you are fine in a sweater. Then bringing them inside for a nice tater-tot hot dish.
