The concept may be applied as well to a higher-dimensional space. For easy visualizations of four dimensions, two space coordinates are often suppressed. An event is then represented by a point in a Minkowski diagram, which is a plane usually plotted with the time coordinate, say t, vertically, and the space coordinate, say x, horizontally. As expressed by F.R. Harvey
A curve M in [spacetime] is called a worldline of a particle if its tangent is future timelike at each point. The arclength parameter is called proper time and usually denoted τ. The length of M is called the proper time of the particle. If the worldline M is a line segment, then the particle is said to be in free fall.[1]: 62–63
A world line traces out the path of a single point in spacetime. A world sheet is the analogous two-dimensional surface traced out by a one-dimensional line (like a string) traveling through spacetime. The world sheet of an open string (with loose ends) is a strip; that of a closed string (a loop) resembles a tube. -Wikipedia (World line)
So far I can see some benefit of using world-lines within a GPS system since they can traverse an observer that is stationary into a new coordinate system, for example since it is it time sensitive to critical components that are often used within GPS, they need to have more locality of time coordinates / world lines of another order .. rather than maps or pin-pointing locations that can only thus far detect where the GPS is at. At best, GPS can only reverse its own method to ultimately use the device, more of a surrogate that the Earth isn't moving an organism because of.. satellites and how they're used as "pin-pricking" mechanistic device: since time is misunderstood in sciences more than physics possibly, I am curious if world-lines (the ones that already exist in physics, not the GPS idea) "bend" time to the point of new singletons? Since particles change every day including the nethers of our sun, world lines seem relevant for changing this perspective into another magnitude of order and change: Does time exist as existentialist dread/being, or is there more pragmatism to world lines to multiply a given loci (point of reference=pain of cosmic catastrophe=astrology) This tube wraps around its own given loci as a set of coordinates that bends time/space into a observeless quantity once we discover nature does this routinely (study bee colonies and possibly organisms that are extra smooth, snails for example that do world lines for a locality theory since snails enumerate results that are consistent/smooth/positive, and also oozing with mechanomics... that black entropy theory again constituting the Earth organism some day IMO.)
It's not precisely a physics but a physis (noesis) question, in other words physics wants quantity and yet this is a very different ontic/event problem-space to work on, which unrelated to the GPS again since I am post-poning that explanation entirely, must exist as a velocity beyond a gravity/graviton theory since every singleton enumerates many others (like the multiplication of atomistic structure has to do with reducing this oneness/zeroth degree into many part constituency I believe for an effective branch of micro physics.) I don't expect anything but self-reflexive retorts tbh.
^- Lacan's digraph of desire and its flow/multiplication of language and differentiation.
I relate this diagrammatical image because it explains where lines go in a given loci and coordinate system to explore as motion (momentum/inertia/velocities/initiation) and how world lines share relata possibly as a discursive graph theory: nothing to do with the lexicographical aspect of Lacan's desire in this case since it does a bijective/bisection perfectly for topographical invariance.
