GROUND RULES

Open to anyone -- however! Anyone under 18 will not be paired with anyone 18+, and anyone under 18 will not be permitted to write or claim any fics rated Explicit or Mature.

All participants must follow the dhcuficfest Tumblr blog as this is where updates, announcements, and check-in information will be available. Reminder emails will not be sent. Tumblr DMs are also the best way to get in touch with me, your mod.

By signing up, you automatically agree to follow all DHCU FF Rules. If you are unsure about something, ask. Do not wait until something is due to get clarification.

As mod, I have the right to disqualify or barr participants for any reason including failure to meet fest requirements, harassing or hateful speech, or other types of unwelcome behavior. This includes in DMs or posts on social media like Twitter or Tumblr.

FIC FEST GUIDELINES

Artists

Artists are expected to create one (1) original artwork for claims. Artists may create up to two (2) different works for claims with each artwork being claimed by a different author.

All artwork submitted must be previously unposted, unshared, and must be your own work. AI-generated artwork is not allowed.

Artwork may be in any medium you desire but must be original and created exclusively for this event. If you would like to participate as an artist and create pieces such as mood boards, collages, or video edits, please indicate as such on the sign up.

All artwork submitted must be finished and reflect your best effort to create full, complete pieces with a reasonable amount of detail.

You may post wip updates or teasers as you desire, but do not post the completed work or anything that would be considered a spoiler for the fic prior to the posting date.

All participants must adhere to the schedule and meet deadlines.

Authors

This event is designed for one shots / short works. As such, the ideal word count for this bang is 3,000-8,000 words. If you wish to write a shorter or longer work, please indicate as such on the sign up form. The amount of progress required for check-ins is determined by the total estimated length of your fic, not the minimum word count.

All fics must have a David Harbour character as the primary character. Pairings and ships are allowed, as well as side or background pairings, but a David Harbour character must be the main focus of the fic. Crossovers, AUs, and Character x Reader works are allowed.

All ratings are permitted. All fics must use Archive Warnings as applicable and be tagged to the best of the author’s ability.

Traditionally "Dead Dove"-tagged works which contain rape, incest, or underage content are not allowed for this event. If you have a question about whether your idea or a specific tag would be permitted, please ask.

Fics must be complete at the time of posting and able to be read as a stand-alone. That means no WIPs and no sequels to existing fics.

All fics must be your own work and written solely by you unless you are signed up as a co-author. No AI-generated fics.

Fics must have the completed art embedded in the story at the time of posting.

Authors may create up to two (2) different works for claims with each work being claimed by a different artist. (While the goal is to pair an artist with each writer, writers acknowledge they may not have an artist paired with their work depending on total number of participants.)

Authors are not allowed to create or commission additional art for their fics beyond the art created by the artist they are paired with.

All fics must be uploaded to Tumblr (tag @dhcuficfest & #dhcu fic fest 2026) and/or Archive of Our Own (& added to the DHCU Fic Fest Collection).
