I'd like to try for the yellow one and name him Spark!
He gets a piece of metal to make something with in replacement of a battery :)
(I kept reloading the page while writing to make sure no one got him before me)
Donnie gathered the scrap in his arms.
"You better not cut yourself again," Leo warned.
"No promises," Donnie passed over his shoulder as he left.
He swerved around groups talking and stumbled past kids running around on the way to his lab. Reaching it was sweet relief, especially when the door slid shut.
The pile of new metal landed on his makeshift desk with resounding clangs. He rested his hands on the edge of the desk and stared down at it all. Then his gaze flicked over to the blueprints lining his wall. Which one was the most important?
One of the sheets shifted, calling his attention back to it. A flash of something bright yellow vanished over the far edge of his desk. Raising a brow, he made his way to that side, but nothing was there.
The sound of metal on metal came from below him. He quickly ducked down. A yellow foot of some kind poked out from under the modesty panel. Quietly, so whatever it was didn't know he was approaching, he returned to the front of the desk.
He crouched down to block it before rolling the chair away. Green eyes flicked to his immediately, the robotic body behind them trembling slightly. He noticed the black and brown item in its jaws.
"A battery thief? That one's new," he got on his knees and reached out. "I'm going to need it back."
The bot released its hold on the battery, bowing its head. Donnie grabbed the battery in case it changed its mind and put it back on the desk. He felt around for a second, eventually finding a small piece of scrap. He pulled his arm back down, dropping the piece on the floor and slowly pushing it over.
The bot raised its head back up when it saw it, blinking at him in a sort of question.
"I don't need it. You can take that back to whoever you belong to instead."
It looked back down at it, tilting its head. It leaned down and scooped it up. Then it got closer to him, giving it right back to him and releasing friendly noises. He frowned. It nosed at his hand and forced its hand under it.
"So you don't belong to anyone then?" he asked. "Good to know."
This was a fun read, got me giggling!
