It had been about a month since you joined Vi on steam and ever since then her entire chat kept asking if you were ever going to come back on. Even though Vi was almost constantly getting asked she always replied with.
“If she wants to come on stream again she’s more than welcome to and she knows that, but I’m not going to pressure her into it just because you guys want it.”
Vi was respectful, she promised it would only be one time and she’d never bug you ever again and she meant that. You were definitely grateful for the fact she was keeping to her word, it was nice knowing that if you wanted to go on stream again you had the option to say yes but also not having the pressure that you had to.
Vi had just finished a pretty long stream as she had a big announcement to talk about which she hadn’t even told you yet. She walked into the bedroom where you were sitting, playing animal crossing which is what you did most nights to destress yourself before bed. You paused your game the second you heard Vi enter the bedroom and looked up at her.
“Finally finished your stream?”
Vi stretched, cracking her back before heading to the wardrobe to get changed into her pjs.
“Yeah, finally finished. Everyone was excited about the big announcement.”
“What even was it anyway? You never told me and you always tell me about this stuff.”
Vi finished getting changed before sitting down on her side of the bed. By this point she had your full attention, she never kept any big announcements from you, she was always so eager about them she couldn’t shut up about it.
“Well me and the group, ya know Powder, Ekko, Cait and everyone, well we’re doing a Minecraft server series thing but it’s gonna be our biggest one yet.”
You nodded but was slightly confused, why hadn’t she mentioned this before? And it’s not as if this was something out of the ordinary or anything. Vi continued before you could ask her though.
“Anyways I was wondering if maybe you’d want to join? I haven’t mentioned anything to the people in chat or anything I promise and it’s fine if you say no, I just thought you’d enjoy it.”
You stared at her for a moment, trying to process what she said.
“Vi, I’m not exactly the best at playing Minecraft. You know this plus being on stream all the time… it just seems like a lot.”
Vi let you talk without interruption, she always made sure to hear you out on these things.
“You wouldn’t have to be on stream much, not like me at least. You’d only need to be on camera or stream for specific events which you’d have plenty of notice of. Also it’s a YouTube thing so for events where you’re present we can simply not do it live.”
You sighed. You wanted to join, you honestly did, it seemed like a lot of fun and you liked playing Minecraft with Vi before as well.
“Maybe, I’ll think about it. I'm just not sure yet that’s all. I want to don’t get me wrong, it's just…”
“It’s just you’re camera shy, I get it.”
Vi tried to not sound sad or upset, it just sucked that because of how much you hated being on camera it meant that you couldn’t enjoy things like this.
“Hey Cupcake, if you really do want to do this we can always work around the camera if we need to, we can make it work I promise.”
You nodded your head slightly before letting Vi pull you in to cuddle up for the night while you finished your animal crossing game.
“Have you gotten that villager yet?”
You looked at her before shaking your head no.
“Unfortunately not, I swear they’re avoiding me like the plague.
Vi laughed as she rested her head against yours while she watched you run around your island doing everything you needed to do. She started to gently run her hand along your thigh, moving in slow careful circles which you relaxed into.
After about half an hour you finally finished up and turned off your switch before curling up against Vi, both of you fitted together like yin and yan.
A few days had passed since Vi mentioned about you joining in the server, she hadn’t pressed you about it at all and you were grateful for it. In the end you decided you wanted to join but you needed to clarify everything with Vi first.
Vi was in the kitchen making lunch, as you walked in Vi turned to look at you.
“Hey Cupcake, you good?”
You nodded as you walked over to her and wrapped your arms around her waist, leaning your head on her back.
“You sure? You usually don’t hug me like this, that's all.”
You sighed softly before speaking.
“I wanna join the server thing, it seems like fun and I liked playing with you last time.”
Vi turned slightly to look at you.
“But?”
“But I just… I don’t wanna be on camera a ton, I don’t mind every now and then or if I stay in the background. I just don’t want it constantly.”
Vi kissed the crown of your head.
“That’s fine Cupcake, I was expecting you to say that anyways. I’ll sort something out. Also we’ve got a group chat with all the members who are playing, it’s basically to plan stuff and updates so I’ll add you in.”
You stayed hugging Vi’s back and hummed to let her know you heard her and agreed. You both stayed like that while Vi finished up lunch.
Later that day Vi had added you to the group chat to help organise everything for the server. You didn’t really message on there, just read all the plans and made sure you had everything you needed installed. There was the odd thing you had to reply to, like what biome you wanted, if you were open to alliances, etc. You ended up choosing a cherry grove biome as it was one of your favorites while Vi chose dark oak which was right next to the cherry grove biome. After about a week of organising and agreeing on what was going to happen for the first episode the last thing to be sorted was the date. You were getting a bit worried as it meant you'd have to be on camera, but Vi comforted you every time.
It was the day of the stream, you were definitely worried about it, but as always Vi helped you calm down and made sure to have snacks and your favourite weighted blanket in case you wanted.
Vi sat in her streaming room preparing everything for the stream, making sure your game was ready to be loaded, the chat was up and running along with the call for everyone who was on the server. you walked in, wearing comfortable clothes and your favourite drink in hand.
“Is everything ready?”
Vi hummed in response before talking, she was still pretty focused on making sure everything was working.
“Yeah, Cupcake. Just double checking everything to make sure everything is good, that's all.”
You moved to sit down in the spare chair Vi had.
“How long is the stream going to be?”
“To be honest I'm not 100% sure, it's gonna be at least an hour but you can leave whenever you need to.”
“Alright.”
After about 10 more minutes the stream had started along with the call for the rest of the members. Everyone was explaining what was going on and the general explanation of what the series will be about. Once that was done everyone suddenly ran off to find the biome that they wanted. You quickly found a cherry grove and started making a starter base, it was simple but efficient plus a little cute. Then you began to strip mine because the last thing you wanted to do was head into a mine with no armor, tools or literally anything to defend yourself from mobs or whatever else was in this modded world, you knew of some of the mods as you'd recommended them but a lot of them you had no idea about what they were. You were thankful for the fact the stream couldn't see your gameplay as you had requested Vi to make sure they couldn't, the last thing you wanted was to die by fall damage or something and everyone on stream to see. About an hour has passed and Vi had decided to look over at your screen.
“Hey Cupcake, how's it going?”
you paused what you were doing to show her the progress you had made so far, you had a whole farm already made and a somewhat decent house but you did want to improve it later on. Vi smiled and moved her monitor to show you how it was going for her, she also had a small farm going along with a pretty good house already built. Your jaw practically dropped at how good her house was looking.
“Since when were you this good at building?”
Vi shrugged before kissing your forehead and continuing to play her game. you were staring at her before continuing your own builds.
It's been just short of 2 hours of streaming and most of the other players were signing off and you decided to join them. Vi didn't mind you leaving before her and told you that she was most likely going to keep playing for a while so you should just head to bed. You nodded and headed out of the room to get ready to relax for the rest of the night, brushing your teeth, taking any meds if you needed to, along with getting changed. You were sitting in bed reading a book when Vi eventually came into the room after she finished up the stream. she immediately got changed and curled up against you in bed, her head resting on your chest and arms around your waist, you moved one of your arms to wrap over her shoulders and began to run your fingers through her surprisingly soft hair.
“So how'd you find the stream?”
You shrugged at the question before putting a book mark in your book and placing it on the bedside table.
“It was ok, I kinda just ignored the fact we were on stream, I knew it was kinda important so I didn't want to joke as much, ya know?”
“That's fair enough cupcake, but hey at least you won't need to be on stream for a while so that's good right? I will let you know if I go live in case you want to join in the future but no pressure.”
You nodded before curling up around Vi, the both of you two spooning each other and eventually falling asleep in each other's arms.

It’s only been a small amount of time since you started dating Alex, but you already feel like you’re a personified piece of shit.
People were initially ecstatic to hear about you. Alex soft-launched his fans of your existence a month ago, and how you’d be featured in his some of his streams.
It went well until his parasocial fangirls came into the picture. They started trashing on you just because you were dating him. Even though most of his fans were defending you, you couldn’t help but feel like you weren’t good enough for Alex.
Toxic people online were tweeting and ranting on social media on how it was “out of character” for him to say he’s dating someone.
They all varied, but one viral tweet stuck to your head like a leech.

Ouch. Fans were basically saying you were below his league. It made your eyes sting. As much as you didn’t want to let people’s words engulf your thoughts, they kept lingering inside.
The whole situation got so bad Alex had to make a short stream about it.
“Okay guys. I just uh, wanted to make a quick stream about something. I think you guys already know what I’m talking about.”
“Addressing my story on Instagram. Uhm, a lot of you guys have been supportive. But I’ve also seen some people hating. I’m just gonna say straight up… that is actually my girlfriend.”
The chat erupted in chaos, the mods having to put the chat on emote-only mode.
“As I’ve mentioned earlier, a few people have been assholes about it. And because of that, if you guys don’t stop, I’ll quit streaming.”
“I’m being deadass. Guys please remember I’m an actual person. I can date whoever I want to date. Adding onto that, she has uh, wanted to be featured in my streams. However, she wont show her face for privacy reasons.”
“I think my first stream with her will be coming soon maybe later this month? Again, please respect her and our relationship. That’s all I wanted to say. And uh, thank you guys for listening, byebye.”
He ended the stream before seeing you laying on the bed you guys shared.
“Did you talk about it?” you asked.
He nodded, “yeah. Can I lay next to you?”
“Go ahead.”
Alex didn’t hesitate to slip into bed with you. He quickly positioned himself so his head would be nestled in your chest. You knew the memo and placed your arm around his neck, the other combed through his black messy hair.
You bit your lip, “what if they’re right though? Are you sure I’m not out of your league? Am I even pretty enough for yo-“
“Don’t say that bullshit.” He cut you off.
“I’m being serious! I didn’t even know you were a streamer when we first dated.”
“That doesn’t matter. All that matters is that I love you.”
You paused. Your heart always fluttered when he said that. It made you feel giddy. Like your body would start floating.
“…are you sure they’ll stop?”
“They better. I told them I’d quit streaming if they didn’t stop shitting on you.”
“Alex!”
“What? It’s true. You’re much more important than streaming.”
You couldn’t help but smile at his words.
“And you’re so fucking beautiful it hurts. Do you know how it feels waking up next to you? Holy shit.” He exhaled, grinning into your chest. “I always feel so lucky knowing I’m your boyfriend.”
You felt your face flush. Your smile grew by each affirmation he gave you.
“Okay, okay! I get it.”
“Good.”
He raised his head to look at you. Without warning, he shifted upwards to kiss your lips ever so softly.
“Love you sososo much…”
Stupid Alex. Making you grin and blush like an idiot.

This might be a longshot but doing a reach check. For my dissertation at university I am planning to discuss Misogyny within the twitch/Minecraft scene. So I'm looking to see if any female presenting CC's would be willing to have a discussion about their experiences within the scene. I've seen this has been a discussed quite a bit so trying to shine a light on it in this essay I'm working!
