ok i think ive figured out my minecraft spider classifications
i’ve placed them in the family salticidae (jumping spiders) based off eye arrangement and jumping behavior. (eye arrangement isn’t an exact match but it’s closer than other spider families.) however i think the two species of spider in minecraft are too unique to be any real life spiders, so i have given them their own genus. after much thinking, i ultimately decided on the following:
spider: red-eyed jumping spider (Oculirubri praegrandis)
cave spider: cave jumping spider (Oculirubri spelucae)
Minecraft should add non hostile spiders that can be kept as pets :D maybe they could be smaller spiders based upon jumping spiders? And they could come in different colors as well!
They should add a non dangerous Minecraft spider, that's just small and only attacks if you attack it. Basically a regular spider, preferably a jumping spider.
