Back from traveling and excited to have access to package-free produce again. I’m reminded of how lucky I am to live in a farmer’s market friendly area every time I encounter a grocery store without many options. Access to affordable, loose produce and dry goods is a total luxury. While it would be amazing for every home to have a zero-waste kitchen, it’s not always going to be possible. Finding those smaller opportunities to reduce waste will really make a difference. Buying your produce in bulk to limit the amount of extra packaging is always a good idea. Making your own versions of packaged dips, spreads, etc., may be a fresher alternative and allow you to make more than typical package. It’s an ongoing challenge but a small effort is still an important effort.
