Mental wellness is often discussed in terms of thoughts and emotions, but our physical experiences matter too. One of the biggest themes from Luke Unneland’s work is that stress, anxiety, and depression affect both the mind and the body, which is why movement and sustainable routines can play an important role in overall wellbeing.
Here are three ideas that stood out:
✔️ Emotional wellbeing is connected to physical wellbeing. Sleep, energy, stress, and movement all influence how we feel.
✔️ Small actions matter. A walk, stretching session, or other manageable forms of movement can help create momentum and support behavioral activation.
✔️ Exercise is a tool, not a substitute for care. Physical activity can complement therapy, support systems, and other approaches to wellness by helping regulate stress and build resilience.
The broader message is simple: caring for the mind often begins with caring for the body.
