I love Milligan so much like his agenda upon waking up with no memories was 1. bold faced easily disprovable lie 2. tell curtain his breath stinks 3. jump off a cliff

Sorry. Why can Milligan tell the Ten Men apart by scent alone from the next corridor over. Do they each have an assigned cologne or is he just insane
Hey why don’t we include Milligan having lasting disabilities from falling from great heights in our fics? That man’s bones may heal but the trauma and the immense pain in his body undoubtedly linger.
I’m gonna have to make a disabled!Milligan fic, aren’t I?
Please. Please, please, could y'all provide me with some Milligan content?
Okay, but I am still wailing about how Milligan is described as unrecognizable after he regains his memory.
Like, can you imagine?
Having your very identity stripped from you, the essence of who you are, taken, and in such a way that even people who knew you would look you in the eyes and keep moving, unaware that you were once someone important to them.
Kate had such an important memory of her dad's voice, and even though memories can be distorted, you'd think she'd at least notice that it was similar to how Milligan talked, but no, not even a flicker of recognition.
I am just so emotional about this concept of him being a full entire person, and then he's stuck in such a mire of depression and exhaustion that he isn't even barely the same anymore. Thinking about how someone who knew him genuinely could have walked right past him, and had no clue.
If even Kate couldn't see her father in him, how drastic a change must that have been?
And then, for him to be back to that again, that would have been such a crazy amount of whiplash for Milligan! Imagine being in an inescapable emotional drought for a decade, and then suddenly springing back to your old habits like nothing happened. Muscle memory has meaning again, and words that were just sounds before are important and potent and real.
Just. Milligan Wetherall!!

Hi Sophie!!
I just knew I had to pull from my birthday fic!! It was so lovely reading it again <3
Carefully, he reached out and clasped her hand, feeling its warmth encased in his much larger palm. "Hello, Kate. I– I do not have a name, but the guards call me the Mill-Again Man, as I am told it is the first thing I said upon arriving here."
Kate mulled this over, considering. "I'm not going to call you that, that's not a name. How about 'Milligan', then?"
He nodded, a quiet smile growing on his lips. "That will do perfectly."
Okay, so, I was fairly proud of this bit, not very much so, but a little. Y'know, it's kind of clever. And having Kate be the one to solidify it into a name is kind of fun.
AnD THEN YOU HAD TO COME IN SWINGING ON DISCORD WITH
"the mental image of Milligan pleading for the mill, again, again, out LOUD….. like get this man home to his baby T.T"
So now I am insane :)
Because somehow even I, as the author, didn't consider the implications. Milligan, freshly amnesiac and scared out of his mind, half delirious half inconsolably broken in a way there has never been before, just asking, begging, babbling about "the mill, again" over and over, so much so that his last, broken promise to his child becomes his whole identity not just in a self-inventive way but so much so that everyone around him identifies him that way. Just. Ough.
mr benedict, perhaps saying #8 or #41? Dealer's choice 👀
THIS IS BECAUSE OF YOUR WONDERFUL SWAP AU AND I AM STILL CLUTCHING MY HEART OVER IT. *VOMITS THIS INTO YOUR LAP*
milligan x nicholas swap au wherein milligan is a former spy who noticed his colleagues were going missing and evaded a few kidnapping attempts himself. when no one listened to his concerns he went rogue, fleeing into obscurity with his young daughter. eventually gathering comrades, he uses old connections to attempt to figure out what is going on with the emergency, but fails to make headway in many areas without the proper scientific knowledge. he's a chemist, and a spy, and brilliant in many respects, but this is simply not his field. and then he comes across a, by all accounts, severely addled and possibly dangerous man, dirty and disheveled and amnesiac and babbling to himself and with a blurry story of a mirror and cold restraints and pain and strategic, terrified escape, and blank memories, unable to recall who he is or where he came from. he takes him in, tries to help him sort out things the best he can... only to soon realize this man is both an asset (while he does not remember much of whatever knowledge he once had, he has instincts, and a voracious love of reading that milligan has funds enough secreted away to indulge, and things to seem to click together him like puzzle pieces in a way milligan just can't quite get himself) and very, very willing, determined, high-strung and anxious in some ways but still very sure that he wants to help. he grows settled in the team, a bit of a mess and with odd nightmares he can't remember and the first time he falls asleep mid-sentence is a shock, but kind, and eager to help, and milligan--who has retained his cheer (how much of it was a cover, in another world?) but found it somewhat strained and grim with both experience and time essentially on the run, both from the sender and his former employers and old enemies who know he's alive as he continues to move through the shadows and pull old strings--finds it a bit amazing, how kind this man is despite everything. and then of course there's kate, who he seems to adore--he's good with kids, it makes milligan wonder--and perhaps when asked for a name, he has none to give, no promise to keep he hasn't already broken, and he names himself benedict, for the patron saint of students, and when he dreams of a voice calling nicky he wakes and doesn't remember. he never remembers. (it's not so different, though, is it. they didn't call him nicholas in another world, either, in the one we know.) and when they see the sender's face--perhaps a photograph? benedict thinks it's him, that this is all his fault, that he built the machine that did this and it's running without him. and when they find out the truth, he still thinks he's right.
