Aw hello anon!

Post-Rumbling Mikaani yessssssss!!! The thing I personally tend to think about the most is that they probably grow close over letters. It's actually a pretty common headcanon from the fics I've read haha, but something about Annie writing letters, actual letters, to the only other person who, at the beginning, could match in her terms of fighting skill, and then later, come to understand how Annie felt about everything, just touches my heart so much T///////T

Mikasa and Annie don't get to see each other until the Ambassadors finally return to Paradis after 3 years.

But in that time, the letters they exchange transition from stiff, cold, cool, lukewarm, sentimental, warm, friendly, banter and jokes and complaints to finally, heartwarming sheets of paper filled with words they'd likely never say aloud in person.

3 years of letters. That's a lot. That's a lot of time and a lot of ocean separating them, but at the end of it when Annie sees Mikasa, a little older, a little wiser and none the better for crying over Eren, she feels - I know her. I know Mikasa, and in all the letters, I've known Mikasa.

The hug then, is a tight embrace that cannot be put to words :>
