At a recent stop-over & I turned the corner to see this. No matter the size of the space, these 2 will still choose & share a close one with each other. Buddies since the Fall of '13 when Mikey (top) joined our fam', they've had each other's backs. Mikey actually accepted Garçon from their first night -- & 2 whole weeks before he quit growling at me & began letting me touch him. Truly, I was ecstactic for their easy honor & love for each other. Garçon made it sooo much easier for Mikey to accept his new human family, especially after leaving one who loved & cared for him so much. This is why I always recommend as a dog trainer & care provider that if you adopt or rescue animals, please be a guardian for at least 2 if at all possible. Often, the trauma they've experienced was human derived early on in their lives. Thus, having a true blue friend in their own species is one of the most selfless treasures you can gift for both. Mighty Mikey is turning 16 in December. Our most tender pooch ever is virtually blind, deaf & his balance is bit drunk-like & weavy. Yet, with his friend & our newest rescue, Sashi, he is absolutely thrilled to go for walks still, knowing that he can always lean on her or Garçon when he feels a bit unstable. He still believes he is The Supervisor of the family, as you can see. We tell him that he is, indeed, a Most Excellent One. While his brother gains his leg strength post rattle snake bite, he's consistently there to encourage & cheer him on. May all of you who are considering opening your homes & hearts to an animal who is in need of both, please remember Mikey.
