Glad you liked my bird pics! Could you help me ID the lizard on the Galapagos land iguana’s head please, and the lizard in the second pic?
Lizard ID - Galapagos:
Both of these lizards are lava lizards in the genus Microlophus, family Tropiduridae. The species depends very much on which island they were seen on.
From what I can tell, the top image looks like Santa Cruz Lava Lizard (Microlophus indefatigabilis), and the bottom image looks like it could be that or Galapagos Lava Lizard (Microlophus albemarlensis)... but these species all look very similar, and some of the smaller less developed islands may have undescribed species.
