chronic illness is hard in and of itself. what's harder is the amount of people who, knowing i am ill and need to pace myself while doing 'normal' activities, still raise an eyebrow when i am forced to sit down and take a break. or worse, open their mouths and say things like, 'why are you sitting down? you sit all day long!' or 'it looks like you're better since you're out doing this activity for the day', or, my favorite, 'you're too young to need to take breaks all the time'.
i am allowed to take a break. whenever i need to. and so are you.
What is your ideal summer breakfast - Public Micro Journaling #4
In my entire life, I have never considered, even for a moment, what my ideal summer breakfast would be. And yes, when I saw @nosebleedclub post it as journaling prompt, I was filled with excitement. Yesterday, it was -18 C where I live. Today is -4C and tomorrow will be 16C. That's just the bipolar nature of spring in the frozen wastelands of southern Ontario. And frankly, I'm sick of it!
I'm sick of shoveling snow. I'm sick of bundling up in layer and layer just to go outside. I'm sick of risking hip fractures walking on icy walkways. I'm sick of it all. I'm ready to feel hot air on my face (not the heater). I'm ready to wear t-shirts in public. I'm ready to spend lazy Sundays on grass. I'm ready to sustain myself off of watermelon and David's Tea. Which brings me to breakfast... My ideal summer breakfast would be...
A fruit bowl with watermelon, kiwi, strawberries, grapes, blueberries, cantaloupe and lime.
A tall glass of iced Coconut Oolong Tea from David's Tea
A view of clear skies and the beach
My passport size traveler's notebook.
Micro journaling helps me stay more consistent than using a full size journal.
Trying to start my day with a little creativity.

men called women's wisdom "witchcraft" in order to suppress knowledge and enforce their supremacy. they equated witchcraft with rebelliousness and rebelliousness with witchcraft as a means to control all manner of behaviors that threatened the establishment and maintenance of the patriarchy.
i, a human whose lived experience is as a woman, oppose the patriarchy in every way I encounter it and that opposition is unwavering. i am pleased to realize that i am a rebellious woman and it is a good thing. a right thing. i am pleased to affirm that i, a rebellious woman, am part of an ancient sisterhood of practitioners of the equally ancient craft of witchery.
i seek not just burn the patriarchy to the ground but to build a new world where we are all free to live and practice the wisdom we have gained and pursue new wisdom and knowledge unhampered by men who care for nothing more than power over others.
tell them. tell them they are important to you. make the call. send the email. text the text. press send on the messenger app. send the post card. too often we let things go unsaid because it's a given, right? of course our friends, our parents, our siblings, our spouses, our children, know they're important to us! don't they? hopefully. but even if they do, sometimes they need to hear it from you. and sometimes, you need to hear it from yourself.
two bookcases arrived yesterday and i pestered the mister into building them for me last night. this morning is for organizing and as i was cleaning off my desk i found my husband had left the cheese board he'd ordered. it was a surprise and i'm just glad there wasn't any cheese on it. still in the middle of it all but glad i have some energy to do a thing or three. hope you manage the thing or three today that you are needing or wanting to get done.
