what a fun little show. s1 starts off weaker than the rest (and by weak, i mean a 6.6/10) but by episode 4 the quality jumps SO FAR up, and its well on the level of the other schurverse shows for all of season 2.
the fact it was on peacock is truly the Achilles heel of this show. seriously, who the fuck had peacock in 2022? but it really is a shame the series didnt continue for at least season 3. that cliffhanger was CRAZY and im so mad we didnt get to see the comedy gold that could come from nathan/peggy/deirdre, and reagan/nelson/josh
i loved it a lot. nathan and reagan have a beautiful friendship, and terry is a legendary schurverse character. sigh...
Michael Schur has fulfilled the dream of all ficwriters who love Easter eggs. He creates a project and references all of his other projects within it.
For example, in "A Man on the Inside" he created a department for people with memory issues and named it "The neighborhood." It`s similar to the "The good place" neighborhood, where Michael regularly erased everyone's memories.

I just finished watching the 4 seasons of The Good Place which is streaming on Peacock. While it is a light hearted fantasy-comedy, it also wrestles with philosophical tenets and ethical dilemmas. The last 2 episodes bring the entire series to a satisfying conclusion until the last scene ends in a twist. I highly recommend watching The Good Place.

My main problem with Man on the Inside series 2 is that it suffers from second album syndrome.
What I mean by this is that it has all the good things that the last series had, but nothing that is new that is good enough to stand out like series 1 shone. It feels like Scream 2, where now you understand the genre conventions, you understand what is going to happen.
My other issue is how short the series is. Eight episodes is not enough to cover the emotional beats that the story is trying to fit in. I just wish Netflix had given Michael Schur, who has famously been amazing for Netflix and has produced some of the biggest shows on that platform, the time he needs to flourish. Eight episodes is not enough to resolve Julie's emotional problems with her mother, and I stand by that fact.
Things feel bad all the time, but Michael Schur keeps making shows where people really love one another and that is very important to me.
