Brian Allen : The Pentagon just announced fifteen thousand service members, guided-missile destroyers, over one hundred aircraft, and unmanned platforms deployed to the Strait of Hormuz. Operation begins Monday morning.

A senior U.S. official then told CNN, on the record, that Project Freedom "is not an escort mission." The Wall Street Journal said the same. The administration is calling it a coordination framework. Governments talking to insurance companies talking to shipping firms.

Fifteen thousand troops. One hundred aircraft. Guided-missile destroyers.

Coordination framework.

Read those two statements again. They cannot both be true.

Trump today: “Gasoline is high… As soon as the war ends, the gasoline prices will come down.”

In other words: We're NOT opening the Strait. We CAN'T open the Strait. Iran controls the Strait, not us.

Our navy is NOT safely escorting tankers through because our Navy CANNOT escort tankers through safely. It's not possible.

The oil companies are NOT taking Trump up on his offer to insure them because we CAN'T offer any actual assurance of safe passage and they know it.

So now we just have to wait until the war ends and Iran magnanimously decides to allow passage again.
