assuredly all the films cost quadruple the costs of entirety of its namesake tv series and the sequel series.

Ethan Hunt and the Impossible Mission Force bid farewell with MISSION IMPOSSIBLE: THE FINAL RECKONING.

While it does give obligatory nods to the past films, it's not overly indulgent and strikes a nice balance between reverential (and referential) to the past (in fact, IMO MI: THE FINAL RECKONING feels a bit like Brian DePalma's "MISSION IMPOSSIBLE"), without being too sentimental about it. I often lament how the film series did away with the director du jour format where each director puts their stamp on it, but you can't argue with how Christopher McQuarrie's collaboration with Tom Cruise has elevated the film.
