(I’m late bc i didn’t know this existed)

Characters: Meteor (ffxiv), Seraphina (ffxiv oc)

Seraphina toyed with the ring hanging around her neck, gaze far away and distant.

"Hey, Seraphina?"

Seraphina was snapped out of her thoughts by the sound of Meteor's voice. She glanced up at the man, who was gazing at her with a concerned look.

"Ever since Alphinau said we'd be going to Ishgard, you've been distant,"

"I'm fine," she mumbled

"Clearly not," muttered Meteor, "Come on, talk to me,"

"Remember my whole "from another universe" discussion?"

"Yeah?"

"And how I mentioned I almost married someone?"

"Yeah? That someone died before he could ask you,"

"He lived…lives in Ishgard,"

"Oh…" said Meteor, "Yikes,"

"Yeah, His name was-is Haurchefant Greystone and we are going to meet him again,"

"Are you afraid to see him again?"

"Of course I am!" exclaimed Seraphina, turning wildly to face the Warrior of Light, "The last he knew of me, I was a hero, the Warrior of Light! I feel like I no longer deserve him after my whole Warrior of Nothingness stunt!"

Seraphina looked away, tears blurring her vision.

"Plus, he only ever falls in love with the Warrior of Light. I am no longer the Warrior of Light,"

Meteor didn't know what to say, but he placed a hand on her shoulder anyway. Seraphina glanced at him.

"From how you've described him in the past, I do not think he will ever hate you, I think he would have lamented not being there to help you when you needed it the most,"

Seraphina teared up, a sob hitting her throat like a fist.

"Did you ever get to mourn him?"

"No…No I was so focused on revenge and then there was the liberation of Doma and Ala Migho and I feel to Nothingness not long after,"

"Then mourn him now,"

"But he's alive now?"

"Mourn your Haurchefant, mourn that man,"

Tears fell down Seraphina's face. Choked sobs escaped from behind the hand she rose to cover any sound. Meteor pulled her close to him as Seraphina sobbed uncontrollably.

In the corner of his eye, he saw Alphinaud enter the room. He froze, looking between the Hyur and the Viera before slowly back out of the room.
