So, Mark has talked about this period of his career (in like 2017) where he got into this slump because he'd achieved his previous goals in terms of growing the channel on YouTube but wasn't sure where to go from there, and that's what lead to him trying bigger projects like ADWM and WKM.

He's talked about this period in his creative life in different ways multiple times, e.g. I was able to pinpoint one example in the AHWM explanation/breakdown stream at 1:32:16.

There is one more specific aspect I'm trying to find a source I can cite for though: The creation of the Actor as a character — a character who is based on Mark but who fame corrupted/went to his head/whatever, right?

So in my mind, Yuuri speaks ridiculously good English. And although his accent would probably never fade entirely, it’s likely very faint and neutral. This comes about from Yuuri just being, well, Yuuri. Yuuri hates standing out too much, right, so I firmly believe that he would practice his pronunciation as much as possible, until people could almost mistake him from actually originating from Detroit. 

That boy has probably swallowed a grammar text book too, embarrassed when people giggled his first week when he made a little mistake here and there. Of course over speaking it solidly for four years, in a less natural way, he knows his grammar rules better than some native speakers. International reporters love him because of this (none of the language barrier awkwardness). 

He’s also 100% better at the language than Viktor is. Although we know he’s fluent, there’s clearly going to be a difference between somebody who has lived in an English speaking country for years, and someone who isn’t using it constantly. I can totally see Viktor forgetting really weird words every now and then like ‘elephant’ or something, and trying to describe it with odd terms such as ‘giant horse with long nose’ until Yuuri supplies what he was trying to say.

Although this doesn’t say that much, I will note that Yuuri is dubbed with an American accent whereas pretty much everyone else who doesn’t live abroad carries their native ones, so it kind of confirms my thinking a little? 

So when isn’t Yuuri so great? 

When he’s sleepy 

If Viktor ever tries to ask him something when he’s on the verge of sleep/just waking up, Yuuri will respond with either a mumble, or very fast Japanese because he hasn’t registered where exactly he is. Viktor finds this adorable and just tucks him back in.  

When he’s nervous 

AKA why not so many people internationally know that Yuuri is so great with the language. When his anxiety peaks before competitions, Yuuri kind of forgets all the pronunciation notes he’s forced himself to remember and such, and on occasion gets mixed up. Sometimes he has to talk very slowly to remember the next words so everyone kind of assumes he’s very serious. 

Essentially when he’s emotionally overwhelmed 

I believe this to essentially be canon. Remember this in episode five?

A lot of the time I noticed that Yuuri pronounces Viktor’s name with a hard ‘r’, but in this scene he says it with more of a ‘ru’ sound which is closer to how you’d write it in Japanese (at least, I’m mostly sure about that. I’m not Japanese.). And whilst I’m pretty sure he also says it like this a few other times, I find happy Yuuri not controlling his pronunciation very sweet. 

Also sad and angry Yuuri. Angry Yuuri can hardly even be understood when he’s ranting (he’s also too angry to care about this anyway).

When he’s drunk 

This is actually canon! Reports from the museum all say that Yuuri gets very Kyushu accent when he’s intoxicate. Also, may I remind you of “BE MY COACH, VIKTORRRRRRRRRRRR!” 

during sex   

Inspector Lestrade (Colin Jeavons) was introduced in the 8 September 1985 series of The Adventures of Sherlock Holmes in the “The Norwood Builder.” Notably described by ACD as being ‘dapper,’ Granada’s first episode with Lestrade definitely displayed that characteristic.

From the slicked hair, to the dark brown silk tie in a four-in-hand knot, his leather gloves as well as a the gold pinkie ring with dark stone, Jeavons’ Lestrade bespoke style. He wore a double breasted suit with a peaked lapel, and his standup collar was matched by a top hat, and a brown wool Chesterfield coat. Unlike later episodes, Lestrade wears a top hat and his clothing fits perfectly, including both suit and topcoat.

Interesting to note, however, the difference in class displayed here, despite how well-dressed Lestrade is. Both Holmes and Watson carry sticks, and wear the longer frock coat of a gentleman although Watson is the man out here by wearing a bowler.

Both Lestrade’s jacket and coat are brown (in fact, his whole outfit is brown - hat, tie, gloves) but they all do display a striping texture, somewhat difficult to notice in the lighting of this episode. Notice how tall Lestrade’s collar is -- yikes!

As I said before, NORW is the only Granada episode where Lestrade wears a top hat, which I would warrant to guess is because NORW is the only Granada episode where Jeavons’ Lestrade appears with Burke’s Watson.

I headcanon that Anne, as a stylish and image conscious person, wasn’t impressed by Eddie’s unvaried wardrobe and bought him all the SanFran shirts.

But in the movie, Eddie seems to be from New York, just going by that accent…

So, riddle me this: Do y’all think Movie!Eddie still met Anne in college? ‘Cause he does say that he moved to the west coast ‘for her’ which implies that he knew Anne in New York, but I have always headcanoned that, given the romantic context of the rest of that conversation, Eddie could have also meant that in a more metaphorical way, like fate brought him to California just to meet her.

In a lot of ways that makes more sense, given what we are shown. All the pictures of the two on Anne’s computer are recent and at San Francisco landmarks, Mr Belvedere is Anne’s cat, who never liked Eddie, and, perhaps most damning, Anne moves on completely from Eddie and in with another guy in less than six months.

And, yeah, I know it doesn’t make a lot of difference really, but looking at it like they have been together for a few months or a year tops, Eddie’s actions, looking at Anne’s email and using the information and Anne’s reaction of genuine surprise, make more sense.

They are neither of them bad people, they just rushed into a commitment that neither one was really ready for, and they didn’t really know each one all that well. In the end, they are going to make better friends then lovers…

Er, sorry…

Is that a word? Because this is both a bit of a meta and a headcanon, so I’m gonna just run with it.

So, I want to talk about the restaurant scene in Venom.

No, not that part.

I know we all love Eddie getting tanked, but I want to talk about the beginning of the scene, where Eddie skidders up to Anne’s chair, falls to his knees, and Anne has that ‘oh, shit’ moment when Eddie reaches into his coat.

Now, since my very first viewing, I have been absolutely convinced this is because Anne thinks Eddie is on his knees, reaching for the ring she gave him back, about to propose again.

Is that just me? Or does everyone think that to the point that it doesn’t need to be talked about?

And, if you do see the scene in that light, wouldn’t it be great if that becomes a running joke between the two of them? Every time they met for coffee or Eddie comes over for game night, he’ll purposefully drop something or get down to ‘tie’ his shoe, to make it look like he is going to propose, and say something like, “Anne Weying, will you do me the honor of taking this napkin I just dropped to the trash?”

Anne will roll her eyes and Dan will come take the trash and throw it away. That is until the day Anne gets down on one knee and asks Eddie to be the Man of Honor at her and Dan’s wedding...
