Merbau

Merbau is a Wallace's flying frog who is an on-the-run rogue/monk. She originally comes from the Patagium clan of flying frogs, who are known for their secretive lifestyles up in the trees and for their mastery of martial arts that are similar to the Southeast Asian martial art of silat. Being the daughter of the Patagium Clan's chief, Merbau was going to be married to a well-known frog from her clan named Pokok, but she found him to be suspicious, and she ran away in protest. Little did Merbau know that Pokok was secretly planning to kill the chief and take over the village, tasking his newly formed army of Patagium Clan ninjas to hunt down Merbau. Merbau is quick-thinking, playful, and adaptable, but she can also be overconfident, careless and tends to mask her vulnerability through humor. A part of Merbau regrets running away from her home in the first place. After encountering Pokok's army and learning what happened while she was gone, Merbau's new wish is to save her village and regain her honor, but not without proper training and not without allies to help her. Her two traveling companions are Maia, a caring Suriname toad mage who uses summoning magic through the holes on her back, and Shanjing, a hot-headed emperor newt soldier who fights with a guandao coated with his poison.
