To put it simply, Meralon is an arrogant jerk. We meet other arrogant jerks too, but most of them get killed, or realize their mistake (like the battlemaster and lord of Seacliff fief). Meralon doesn't. Adding to that, he's the only Ranger we meet who's a jerk, and I feel like he's not really living up to the standard of a Ranger. So. I don't like Meralon.
