Mer DCA Au idea ramblings undercut :)
So Mc lives in a house similar to my grandparents (I know no one else knows what it looks like but me, I’ll try to draw it or maybe make it in minecraft (got that idea from @/umbramage! Go check out their stuff, it’s wonderful!)), only it’s a lot more secluded and the lake is much larger (along with a river that connects to other large bodies of water and eventually connects to the ocean), other than that maybe it’s layout is a little different.
Mc acts as a young adult (ofc you can insert however you’d like, it’s just what I’m doing for this), obviously they wouldn’t have the money for a place like this just yet so they inherited it when their grandparents died. Maybe at some point a family member gets jealous of this and tries to sue for it, but I’m just brainstorming rn so this isn't set in stone. It won’t be their parents, they don’t really have a close relationship with them after moving out, but there isn’t any bad blood or spite.
Mc works from home, they still need money to pay the bills and what not. Their job will remain inconspicuous aside from maybe some meetings or assignments so that you can have whatever online job you want. :)
They have their own little garden of the standard fruits and veggies (along with garlic and potatoes, sorry that I don’t actually know much about gardens and planting), they might also have chickens if I feel like it, but I’m not too sure yet.
They have an old cat, he’s lazy and fat and a little bit of an asshole, standard cat stuff. I don’t know if I’ll decide on a type of cat or let it be up to the reader, we’ll see. I also need to think of a name for him.
The nearest town is maybe about 40 minutes away, occasionally it’s annoying (like with cold groceries or if they’re craving fast food), but the drives can be nice for letting their mind rest and listen to music while focusing on the road.
Now about Sun and Moon (I don’t plan for an Eclipse in either this AU or my alien one, maybe there'll be an Eclipse-centric story eventually, I don’t know why I’m telling you this when it probably doesn’t matter), I haven’t decided on the relationship between Sun and Moon. When I personally read fanfics or look into other Au’s I don’t care for the relationship between them, they can be brothers or dating, as long as they’re not brothers and dating then I don’t care, but I know some people do so I’ll put up a pole at some point if I develop this au any further.
For now their relationship will remain undefined.
They are both fresh and saltwater mers, traveling between the ocean and lake at will. This is because I don’t really have a plan for any other mer interaction and don’t think a whole community would fit in the lake, the two just decided they preferred the secluded vibe of the lake and found it large enough for them to comfortably live in. They will have scent stuff in this, as I feel there usually is with mer fanfics, so they have territory markers (scent and visual signs, like certain scratching on certain rocks or whatever) and will probably rub their scent on the Mc at some point when they get into a relationship. There will be miscommunication obviously, the way mers and humans establish relationships are different.
I’m gonna stop here for now, I don’t wanna spoil planning for the chapter I’m making up in my mind. Hopefully I keep the motivation to actually write it.
And sorry about the neglect my Alien Au is going through, I started the second chapter a bit ago, but my motivation for it is just dead. Hopefully I get back to it soon now that I’ve found something to write on again (the computer I was using had to be returned, but now I’ve got the keyboard working on the iPad and can work on it instead!)
