This is my first time painting an underwater scene!

I didn’t have a clear idea at the start of painting what my mer eclipse would look like under all that shadowiness. I just knew that I wanted him to be a combo of my old mer smoon designs but BIGGER and BADDER 👹

Diver y/n… isn’t really accurate lol. Very simplified. I’m thinking of doing some extra visual exploration. There’s so many different designs for those old school diving suits!

Finally, the elder man snaps his book shut and returns his pen to its inkwell. He lifts a crystal glass of brandy sitting near him and takes a swig, returns it to its place, then pockets the glasses that were perched on the bridge of his sharp nose. At last, he raises his eyes to the young man, the shadows cast by the lamp on the desk corner making his features even more angular—his eyes even darker. A faint smile lines his thin lips before they parted, his voice as soft and lethal as a knife’s edge.
