ELECTRIC RANTZ - Vol 1: Meltus' Species
Hey guyz! I'm welcoming you all to my new series of postz... ELECTRIC RANTZ!!! Where I, Electric, share my thoughtz and opinionz on my favourite thing... MIXELS!!! Because, well, if you know me, you know I talk a lot and never shut up!! I'll be cutting out the "Z-speak" for theze for ease of reading and writing, much to the fortune of any dyslexics wanting to see these postz.

Today's post will be about MELTUS, a series 4 mixel who I'd say is decently popular in the fandom and who is one of my favourites from series 4. But what about Meltus in particular? Well, I wanted to talk about his design, or rather, what the fandom thinks he is.
According to the Wiki (which, to be fair, can be a bit of dubious source), Meltus is a dinosaur, or at least resembles one, nothing more. However, a lot of the fandom seems to mutually agree that he may be... a dog?! Or at least, half-dog-half-dino, which to be honest, really confused me at first. I just didn't know WHY so many people looked at him and thought "DAWG", not at first anyway.
Here we have two images, one of meltus in the show, and one of him in my artstyle. I do styalise him a fair bit as you can see, and sometimes I DO feel like I may have... tumblr-sexyman-ifed him a little, BUT THAT'S BESIDES THE POINT!!! One argument I have heard for Meltus being a dog his his eyebrows, they sorta look like ears... dog ears. And, yeah, they sorta do, but "DAWG" STILL wasn't my first thought!! I guess he also has a tail, but so do dinos... maybe it's his nose? Surely not. I think it could be his personality. You'd expect a dinosaur to be big and scary, but Meltus? He's shy and a little pathetic, he even has allergies!!! He's adorable! Y'know what else is adorable? Dogs.
I do believe that his disposition also plays a role in how people view his species. Look, to be completely honest with all of yous... I do get the dog thing. I just can't put my finger on it though, it could be a combination of factors, or maybe I have just conditioned myself to think like everyone else... but I'm no sheep! Well, I might not be a sheep... but Meltus may also be...
A HORSE?!! Look, hear me out, I said this as a joke one day but I sorta agree with myself. Look at his snoot, it's a different colour to most of his face; not to mention those nostrils of his. He also has a pretty looooong face, well, I think he does in my artstyle. And horses to do, so... maybe I might be on to something.

This is just my opinion on the matter that... no one cared about in the first place, like, seriously! I wish more people would share there thoughts and feelings and nuances about both the show, the legos and the fandom, it's interesting!!! Thanks for readingggg!!!
