Shroud isn’t a demigod either, but he’s always been able to see through the Mist- it’s what drew him to Robbie in the first place ↓ They were never in an actual exclusive relationship, but they never really fucked anyone else either. Robbie was married to his work, and his legacy, and adhering to his mother's ideals [Nike]. He only met Melpomene when an argument with Elliot had escalated soo far that Robbie had stormed out of his own house and landed himself in a bar. The- Sardine? Or whatever the fuck, he was three bottles in and losing it
Elliot is meant to be the physical, human, representation of Robbie's one true loss- a tragedy written with the blood on Shroud's hands, on the bones of what could never truly be
Melpomene's nickname for Robert, "my mourning glory", was specifically crafted for Robert. walk with me: -> A morning glory is a symbol of fleeting life- they're also primarily blue flowers -> Robert: "glory bright" -> Robertson: "son of glory" -> Because Robbie bares the same name, and was a child of Nike, and died: mourning instead of 'morning' -> Melpomene's inherent possessiveness = ✨my mourning glory✨
