Flashback to when I was playing mellophone for the first time and thought I was really bad at it but it turns out one of the valves was just in wrong
My mellophone had to be retired as the mouth pipe thing snapped in half </3 I've got a "new" one though, his name is Dylan after his previous owner
I love taking pictures right after rain…
these are some older photos from 2023, but they’re some of my favorites. Felt like immortalizing them here.
not me trying to figure out how to play how its done on the mello-
ig thats one way to get back into the swing of an instrument

I helped a friend get used to playing on a brass instrument mouthpiece (she’s switching from flute/piccolo to mellophone). I don’t have a mellie myself but any practice, even if it’s on a trombone, can help with the transition.
It went well minus the fact she learned to blast on her own and did not seem to care how loud that was in the tiny practice room we were in...
hi im shelby 🪼
im 17, an aquarius, i live in central ohio, and im attempting to get more into musical communities and such!!
oboe and voice are my main instruments, along with english horn, trumpet, mellophone, piano, clarinet, and guitar :) i do marching band and school band ofc but im also part of a youth orchestra and a small jazz group!
im most likely gonna forget about this blog but theres always a chance guys!
brass musicians i have a question!!!
so i have been playing mainly woodwinds for the last 7-ish years and i'm looking into marching mellophone next marching season. for me this sounds like a great idea (my director even recommended that i learn mello!) However, i find it really difficult to buzz my lips. if anybody has any tips on how to buzz and/or build an embouchure, it would be much appreciated!!
note: woodwinds i currently know how to play are flute, saxophone and oboe :)) just in case this info is needed
