One day mekruh was hungry and asked how will i find food and the grass said you can eat my seeds and my buds but you must throw the rest across the fields and forests when your done

So the mekruh eat the seeds and rummage in the ground for more and asked if the forest had anywhere to sleep the thickets offered their branches so the mekruh slept in the bushes

As a thanks the mekruh turned its soil and pruned its branches.

There once was a ptarmigan who lived in the cold with it's family they all had been there for a long time and liked the snow and the cold. They wore dresses to pure white and sometimes would decorate themselves in willow buds. The whole family dances and played. They dug burrows in snow and slept in their warm den.

One day the curious ptarmigan ventured out into the woods and found a bison. The bison was so warm and so fluffy the ptarmigan fell asleep on its back and woke up somewhere completely different and alone.

The ptarmigan quickly tried to find its footing stamping rapidly. And would call to its family making a boom much louder than usual. The ptarmigan found the prairie chicken instead and learned its way grew its ears and its booming song. Then it met other grouse and learned their songs.

Kind of like a creature that is a story and example of who I am

I feel like mekruh specifically embody a lot of my relationship with prairie and grasses. I think in a way, mekruh are almost a way for me to kind of try and describe the living relationship you can have. Instead of using the traditional english "i am with the prairie" or "i like the prairie" which can imply a sort of otherness to the habitat.

Mekruh are me and you and also the prairie or whatever environment you like. I complete mekruh duties like spreading seeds and making nests or plucking dead grass.

Mekruh are mythical fictional creatures that exist in a space where they can jump from person to person and impact them. They have an advantage of not being a physical animal so they can spread more rapidly. I feel like mekruh are just as alive as anything else.

So I need to start writing down more lore in a mythical fashion I think to really get the ball rolling and I think I was missing that previously.

Meet Our Mekruh Summer Storm

She's was raised from a chick to be an ambassador animal for the mekruh species. She's a very sweet, confident and playful mekruh who loves teaching the public about the importance of her species for habitat restoration. Her favorite game is play hunting falling leaves and her favorite treat is her meat pumpkin.

I think expression is up to the individual but for myself I tend to lean towards clothes that match my colors. Make weird noises, do little dances, and forage seem to be a lot of euphoric ones for me. Less obtrusive expressions can be hyper fixating or doing a hobby that requires searching like rock hounding or plant identification. Both of these make me feel more like im hunting.
