anyway they better not pull punches with akasha or twist her motivations. she is a villain. she is an evil, self absorbed, misogynistic queen who is willing to use violence to make the world comfortable for only herself, to make it bend to what she deems as correct. she orders the rape and mutilation of women who won't affirm her religious beliefs. she orders the genocide and colonization of nations because she does not like their cultural or religious practices. when she wakes she refuses to acknowledge her part in the pain and suffering she has caused or the domino affect in the vampiric world that was the result of her violence towards two women and the slaughter of their entire village. instead she victim blames, displaces the responsibility onto men as a whole, and goes on killing and trying to control women to bend to her idea of peace. and it makes her a fascinating villain and very real symbolism for many types of women who exist even to this day, claiming to have feminist morals but being exclusionary, cruel and violent to the women who don't fit their more privileged narratives. it's a relevant story. the world is full of terfs and women in power who trample those beneath themselves all while claiming to be feminist or empowered. that is who akasha represents.

Besides the sheer madness, cruelty, and absolute certainty that she was right, Akasha also had this incredibly frustrating childlike innocence in the books. Even in that brief scene, Sheila managed to capture all of it. She was amazing.
I'm really curious to see who they'll cast as Maharet and Mekare. I know Akasha is the queen for a lot of fans, but for me, the twins are the true queens. I hated Akasha in the books. Maybe the show will take her character in a different direction and I'll end up liking her.
So far, they haven't shown Armand's attempted rape of Lestat, and it's possible they'll cut that storyline entirely. That makes me wonder how they're going to handle Lestat and Akasha's relationship in the later seasons. Because in the books, Akasha is basically Magnus 2.0 for Lestat. He denies it and never fully recognizes it, and of course he insists that he loves her and mourns her after she's gone. But what she does to him is violence. I'm really curious to see where the show takes their storyline.
Especially because, even in just those couple of minutes, Sam and Sheila had incredible chemistry. It's such a interesting terrifying dynamic in the books. On the other hand, there are still people who deny what Gabriella does, or what Magnus did. So it's honestly a little scary to think about how some fans will react if the show keeps that storyline intact.
Maharet and Mekare! I want to draw more of the vampires introduced in QOTD but I lack inspiration sigh,,, Might do Pandora or some Loustat next (ignore the speeling mistake on Mekare's name T-T)

Do you already have a theory on this? Akasha’s green eyes didn’t seem too significant to me as Amel gets green eyes when he gets his own body and loves Louis‘ green eyes in the books. But the similar wording of these lines is something else. I always thought that the fan theory that Akasha will choose Louis instead of Lestat doesn‘t make sense and it still doesn‘t make sense to me in light of what we saw in 3x5. But they did make Louis a bit more violent in the show (with all the Blade style fights), so Amel and Akasha might find him far more interesting and attractive than Book!Louis. 🤷♀️
Hey! 👋🏾
So okay, I honestly don't have any solid theory about this because, in truth, it could just be a coincidence in the wording. Louis owning the night could just be literal. Because of the hotels he owns that are vampire themed, like the one we saw in EP301, where Lestat and the band stayed. From what Louis told Regina, he appears to make his money from investing in properties and things that deal with nightlife, such as that hotel.
So, you know, he literally owns "the night."
Akasha, meanwhile, well. She is the Queen. She contains the "seed," i.e., the Sacred Core, i.e., Amel, the source that creates and connects all vampires in the world. She is the source point for the existence of all of these creatures who are of the night.
So that alone is really all this could be.
However, with that said...
* * * * *
First, to make it clear, NO, I do not think Akasha is going to be choosing Louis over Lestat for anything.
In the context that the show is building with this, Akasha chose Lestat long before he ever met Louis, even more than when it comes to the book. Because here, she sees Lestat as the one "worthy" to be by her side. Plus, Lestat in the show spent what appears to be two decades with her as her caretaker once she did choose him.
And I believe Akasha's choice of him went along with Amel choosing Lestat at that same time, which is something we also learned about Lestat's first encounter with Akasha in the books.
So no, Lestat is the one who has been chosen, the one seen as worthy, by both Akasha and Amel, and that is not going to change.
And Louis, in the show, frankly, is becoming even more of the embodiment, IMO, of how Akasha sees men in general, with his violence and ability to kill, but also with the way in which he uses vulnerable women, either for profit or his own emotional needs.
Which we just watched Louis do with Regina.
Honestly, the only reason Akasha isn't going to destroy Louis is that Lestat loves him. That is very much the reason she gives for not destroying him in the books, and I think that will be made doubly clear on the show, given what they've built up with Louis' character in relation to what Akasha's plan is/will be.
And no, I do not think Louis will be the one to kill Akasha, either. Even with all his skills, he is nowhere on her level power-wise. And frankly, given the way Louis' character is right now in relation to women? I don't think that would be a good look at all.
If Lestat didn't love Louis? Louis would be ashes, dead. I don't think Akasha would have hesitated in killing him and would have done it before Louis could have blinked.
Plus, I am very much of the belief that the twins, and only the twins, should be the ones to deliver the killing blow to Akasha, like Mekare did in the books.
The main conflict of the Queen of the Damned story is, at its heart, a 6000-year-old conflict between Akasha and the twins. Three powerful women. And I very much think, and hope, the show will stick to that when it comes to the final strike against her that starts her death.
* * * * *
Now that said? I do have a suspicion that Louis will have a role to play once the kill strike against Akasha has been delivered by either Mekare or Mekare and Maharet together.
Because I do think Louis has already been severed from Akasha, but just doesn't know it yet. In fact, I don't think Louis is going to know he's severed from her, from the core, until Akasha is on the ground, dying, and all the other vampires in the room are knocked out and dying all around him as well, along with her.
Including Lestat.
Because Lestat (along with all the other vampires who I believe will be there when it happens, including Armand) will all still be connected to her... while Louis will not be.
I give my reasons in this post below why I think Louis is already disconnected from Akasha and the core here:
💬 0 🔁 6 ❤️ 38 · Yeah. Because after Armand closes that coffin, telling Louis to "rest," the next shot is of him with Daniel, also telling
BTW, I do think Akasha will figure out, and say, that she can't look through Louis' eyes, like she can all other vampires in the world, but she will not know, or understand why that is.
Now, I am really going into pure speculation about this from here on out. But I do believe that, by this point, when the final confrontation with Akasha happens, Armand will have figured out one specific way to separate Armel, i.e., the Sacred Core, from Akasha. And will have told everyone by that point what it is.
Because that is what I very much believe that is what Armand's character is up to right now -- trying to figure out how to do that, how to separate the "seed," i.e., Amel, i.e., The Sacred Core, from Akasha:
💬 0 🔁 16 ❤️ 105 · Okay, this is what I think Armand is up to regarding The Great Conversion and the coming Apocalypse (Post EP305) · So, t
However, I think, with the power scale the show has done with the vampires, I think when that killing blow is dealt to Akasha, by either one or both of the twins, that even the twins will go down with her as she is lying on the ground and her body is... well, I won't spoil that for people who haven't read it.
The point is, I don't think either twin will have the strength to perform the transfer of the core into Mekare, as is what happened in the QotD book.
I missed it on my first watch of EP305 (because I didn't have subtitles on), but at one point, during Lestat's voiceover from The Failures recording, Lestat says, "But I, Amel, digress."
Which, if you know the books (particually the Prince Lestat Trilogy), is a big hint as to where Amel, The Sacred Core, now is.
Because The Failures album, given what we saw in the opening scene, was clearly recorded after the events of Queen of the Damned.
And... I think Louis will be the reason why it is there now, and, in the show's universe, why it will appear to have skipped Mekare.
Louis, already being severed from the core at this point in time, and not later on, will be the x-factor in that happening, IMO.
Okay, so you sent a second part to the above question as well, which contains spoilers from the last three books in the VC. So I'm just going to openly talk spoilers from those books about this (along with some more speculation wrt the show this season), below a cut for those who don't wish to know.
But overall, when it comes to Louis and Akasha, I think his big role in the storyline -- his connection in all of this with her -- will be him being the one who helps with the transfer of Amel, the "seed," the Sacred Core from her.
Because when the killing blow against Akasha is struck, Louis will be the only one who will not be affected by it the way everyone else will be. (Well, okay, I suspect someone else will not be affected too, but they will also be in no position to help either, I don't think.)
And, if this speculation I have done is correct, that could be a way of looking at him "owing" the night. In that, Louis will be the one who chooses where the "night," i.e., the being of the night, such as himself, will now reside and live, after that power is taken from Akasha.
* * * * *
Okay, let me say, I don't think Louis giving Lestat Akasha's brain and heart to eat will just be about him choosing Lestat to be the new leader of the Vampire Clan and such. I think Louis will just be operating on instinct as well.
Because he will be looking at Lestat, lying on the floor, dying, and, IMO, might just flashback to Lestat seemingly dying during Mardi Gras murder night, and his inaction during that event.
Which, yes, I do -- at the moment -- think will be made clear by the end of EP307. I do think we are going to revisit Murder Night, and I think we are going to see that it was Claudia who slit Lestat's throat, not Louis.
So, when Louis, once again, sees Lestat lying on the ground dying? And he realises, because of the information that Armand will have provided, that -- because for some reason he is not affected by what is going on, which will also be a shock to him -- Louis will be the one who takes out Akasha's brain and heart from her body and gives them to Lestat to consume.
And that, IMO, is how and why Lestat will be the one who receives Amel, the Sacred Core. And that is why, in the show's universe, it will skip going to Mekare (or at least be one reason why, assuming Mekare survives the final encounter with Akasha).
So no, I do not think Louis is going to be able to control Lestat when Amel is sometimes able to take him over.
However, I do think, as in the books, Louis will very much be a focus and grounding presence for Lestat when such things occur. Particually when it comes to the syncing of their heartbeats. I think Lestat focusing on their heartbeats, always beating together, will be a thing that will help him -- at times -- to overcome Amel trying to take over his body on occasion.
Though, of course, in the end, it will become too great a struggle, and the experimental brain surgery procedure will have to be done to split Amel and Lestat for good, of course.
